Golden Bridge Held by Buddha’s Hand Becomes a Sensation in China

Ma Lingtian Scenic Spot has an area of more than 130 hectares at an altitude of 1,000 m on the top of Sung Mountain, Jiande city under the management of Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, China.

Visitors can climb the mountain or take the cable car to the Buddha’s hand bridge, the most prominent building in the scenic area. The winding golden-bordered bridge passing through the Buddha’s hand is likened by the Chinese to “the world’s first Buddha” or “China’s most tired hands”. The bridge is 23 meters high, overlooking the top of My Nu mountain on the Pho River.

Visitors go all the way to the bridge, climb hundreds of stairs to reach Van Phuc temple, the tallest building in the tourist area. Guests from all over the world often tie pieces of red cloth to write their wishes on the railing.

“My mother and daughter came here together. This place is green, charming scenery, attracting a large number of visitors, everyone is happy”, a female tourist commented when she came here during the first opening in February 2023.

“I saw the introduction of Ma Linh Thien Quan on Douyin social network, saw that this place was very beautiful, so I invited the sisters to come here to play”, Hoang Yen, a tourist from Hangzhou, said.

Ma Linh Thien Quan opened on May 1, 2023, becoming a fever in China, attracting more than 50,000 visitors every day. The representative of Hangzhou eco-tourism development company Ma Linh Thien Quan said that the tourist area contributes to promoting the local economy, improving the income of surrounding people.

However, on social networks, some people think that this work “copies” the Golden Bridge scenic spot in Da Nang. The Golden Bridge is located in the Ba Na Hills complex, opened in June 2018, with a design in the shape of giant hands supporting a 150-meter-long arc road. The bridge was once voted by the British newspaper as one of the 7 new wonders of the world.

India’s Luxebook magazine in 2023 voted the Golden Bridge as one of the 10 most beautiful iconic bridges in the world, as a suggestion for tourists looking for tourist destinations.

Chinese localities often copy famous scenic spots and buildings in the world to attract tourists. In Hangzhou city, Zhejiang province, an urban area called Thien Do Thanh was built with a structure similar to the French capital of Paris.

Thien Do Thanh was opened in 2007 on an area of 31 km2, including luxurious houses modeled after the architecture of the “city of light” Paris. When coming here, visitors can see buildings, fountains, landscapes and even the Eiffel Tower that is one third of the size of the original. Many buildings are built so similar in Paris that it is difficult for some French tourists to distinguish if they put two photos next to each other.
