The team deployed directly into the earthquake zone in La Guaira, Venezuela. Within just twenty-four hours, the Vietnamese K9 units uncovered nine suspected casualty locations. This vital breakthrough allowed military engineers to extract eleven victims from the crushing rubble.
Reports from the Border Guard Secondary School 24 detailed the harrowing operation. The task force scoured the ruins from 5:30 AM until 8:00 PM local time on June 30.
Commanders split the force into five tactical units. Each group contained two K9s, five military engineers, and five military medics. The deployment utilized eight elite Border Guard canines and two specialized Police K9s.
By 8:00 PM local time—7:00 AM on July 1 in Vietnam—the K9 units pinpointed the nine suspected locations. The field commander immediately ordered coordinated forces to excavate seven of those marked sites. Rescuers pulled eleven lifeless bodies from the dark wreckage. They carefully handed the deceased over to local authorities. Teams continue to dig fiercely at the final two positions.
This desperate search targeted the devastated Playa Grande area in the Catia La Mar district of La Guaira. The Vietnamese rescue delegation fanned out in five directions. They worked closely with local forces across a grim 2.2-square-kilometer disaster zone.
