King Frederik X of Denmark and Queen Mary on October 19 hosted an official welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and State President To Lam and his spouse, Ngo Phuong Ly, at Copenhagen Airport.
Following the ceremony, the Vietnamese leader and his spouse joined the Danish King and Queen to lay a floral tribute at a memorial site in Copenhagen. The King and Queen, accompanied by the General Secretary, State President, and their spouses, subsequently traveled in two horse-drawn carriages through central Copenhagen toward Amalienborg Palace.

Citing the Danish Royal House, publication Billed Bladet reported that King Frederik X and General Secretary, State President To Lam rode in the larger Landau carriage, while Queen Mary and Madam Ngo Phuong Ly traveled in the smaller carriage.
The Landau carriage derives its name from the conveyance employed by Holy Roman Emperor Joseph I during his journey between Vienna and Landau in the early 18th century. The vehicle type subsequently gained widespread popularity across European royal and noble courts. The Danish Royal House currently preserves two Landau carriages—a large and a small variant. The larger carriage was constructed in 1889, weighing 650 kilograms, while the smaller one was manufactured in 1885. Both feature convertible leather tops designed to open or close depending on weather conditions.
The King of Denmark personally sharing the historic Landau carriage with General Secretary and State President To Lam en route to Amalienborg Palace constitutes one of the highest ceremonial protocols reserved for visiting heads of state, underscoring high political trust and the robust bilateral friendship between the two nations.
