The displaced bridge span
While navigating the waterway, the crane mounted on the barge collided with the Nong San Thuc Pham Bridge, which links Hamlet 4 and Hamlet 2 in Dam Doi Commune. The impact shifted the bridge’s central span roughly 50 to 60 centimeters from its original alignment, posing structural risks to the safe operation and integrity of the bridge.
The S-shaped Bridge directly connects the central market area with the regional hospital. High water levels on the Dam River were recorded when the collision occurred. Several watercraft were trapped behind the barge and could not pass through the bridge corridor.

Local authorities deploy warning signs, install barricades, and suspend traffic across the bridge.
Immediately upon receiving the alert, the Standing Board of the Dam Doi Commune Party Committee directed the Commune People’s Committee to coordinate with the Waterway Traffic Police of Ca Mau Province to inspect the scene. Functional forces arrived to question the transport operator and work with relevant agencies to conduct an initial damage evaluation.
As an immediate safeguard, local authorities and task forces deployed warning notices, erected barricades, and suspended all traffic across the bridge to ensure public safety.
The structural damage level, the scope of the impact, and the precise cause of the barge collision are currently under investigation to proceed with legal handling.
