No new COVID-19 infection cases were reported on May 9 afternoon, according to the Vietnam’s Ministry of Health.
It means Vietnam has recorded no new COVID-19 infections in the community since 6:00 on April 16.
The country has so far confirmed 288 infection cases, including 148 imported ones who were quarantined right after their arrival.
The latest Covid-19 cases confirmed in Vietnam are 17 patients on Thursday, all of whom were imported infections involving Vietnamese citizens repatriated from virus-hit areas on Vietnam Airlines flight VN0088. The flight landed at Can Tho Airport in the Mekong Delta and all passengers were quarantined at a university dorm in the nearby Bac Lieu Province.
The 17 infected are now treated at the Bac Lieu General Hospital. Crew members on the flight have also been quarantined.
According to Vietnam News, as many as 14,403 people who had close contact with confirmed patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions have been kept under quarantine, including 175 at hospitals, 6,145 at other establishments and 8,083 at home.
Of the patients undergoing treatment, four tested negative for the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once and 13 others tested negative twice or more. Vietnam News reported.
