Police and market management officers in Hanoi have detected two shipping containers storing about five metric tons of rotten immature chicken eggs, duck tongues, pig breasts, and other foods, all wrapped in Chinese packaging.
The smelly foods were found on the premises of the Mega Market supermarket on Pham Van Dong Street in Bac Tu Liem District on Monday.
The supermarket operator could not present certificates proving the foods’ origin when police and market watchdog officers raided their outlet following a so-called ‘reconnaissance.’
Chinese texts were printed on the foods’ packets that contained chicken eggs, duck tongues, pig breasts, animal bones, and others.
The shipping containers, which carried a Mega Market logo, were transported by the two trucks bearing number plates 52R-1407 and 52LD-4058.
Authorities said they would destroy the foods after determining their origin.
