Constructed in 1918 in the French colonial style, Bac Bo Phu has witnessed many historical milestones during both the wars against the French and the Americans. In 1945, President Ho Chi Minh worked here. Today, it serves as the location for state ceremonies and diplomatic activities of the Party, State, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition to Bac Bo Phu, visitors will also have access to other sites such as the Hanoi Children’s Palace, the Opera House, the National Museum of History, the former University of Hanoi, as well as parks like Ly Thai To, Co Tan, and Dien Hong, located on the Creative Intersection.
Old vessels on Halong Bay are gradually being phased out, and businesses building new boats must increase passenger area and amenities to improve service quality.
The People’s Committee of Quang Ninh Province is developing a plan to improve the quality of tourist vessels operating on Halong Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay by 2030.
Ha Long Bay cruise ships are increasing in size many times compared to old ships.
This plan, led by the Quang Ninh Department of Transport, follows the department regaining management authority over Halong Bay cruise ships from the People’s Committee of Ha Long City.
Quang Ninh Province encourages companies to replace wooden boats with steel-hulled vessels to improve safety and reduce pollution risks from waste oil. The province aims to fully transition to steel-hulled ships by 2030.
Additionally, Quang Ninh’s Department of Transport promotes the replacement of two ships with one larger-capacity vessel to enhance safety, increase amenities, and boost overall fleet capacity to better serve tourists.
Notably, Quang Ninh will gradually reduce the number of old boats in operation (currently 508 vessels) while adding newer, high-service-quality ships with attractive designs to bolster the Quang Ninh tourism brand, making it more competitive with neighboring regions.
Cruise ship in Ha Long Bay is as big as a mountain
For new vessels, Quang Ninh will mandate expanded passenger space and improved amenities, with a minimum of 1.4 m² per passenger. Ships will also offer additional space for services (such as bars, viewing lounges) and be equipped with high-quality equipment, adhering to 5-star standards or higher for overnight boats and floating restaurants.
To renew its tourism fleet, Quang Ninh also plans to introduce cross-bay tours on Halong Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay. specifically, three itineraries connecting Halong Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay will be offered, including:
Route 1: Destinations on Route 4 of Halong Bay (Port – Co Cave (Thien Canh Son) – Thay Cave – Cap La Cave – Vong Vieng – Tung Ang Ecological Zone – Cong Do Island – Hon Xep Park) – Van Don (Thang Loi) Island – Ngoc Vung Island – Quan Lan Island – Minh Chau Island).
Route 2: Destinations on Route 4 of Halong Bay – Van Don (Ban Sen Island – Nha Tro Cave).
Route 3: Destinations on Route 4 of Halong Bay – Cam Pha (Dua Island – Vung Duc – Ong Cu Island – Reu Island – Cua Ong).

On December 4, Hoi An City will offer free admission to its Ancient Town for visitors as a special celebration.
Since opening to the public in early November, the museum, spanning nearly 65,000 square meters and housing over 150,000 artifacts (including four national treasures), has adopted the latest presentation and experiential technology. This includes immersive 3D projection, touch screens, and augmented reality, giving visitors a new way to connect with Vietnam’s military history.
Interactive area with 3D model combined with film, sound and light explanations about the Dien Bien Phu campaign
Young visitors, in particular, are captivated by a high-tech recreation of the 1972 “Dien Bien Phu in the Air” campaign. Through 3D displays and VR, they can witness MIG 21 aircraft (tail number 361) engaging in historic combat, leading up to the downing of a B52. Another highlight is the VR experience of sitting in a tank’s cabin as it breaches the gates of Independence Palace on April 30, 1975—a powerful re-creation of the moment that marked national reunification.

DOGE’s price has surged 78% since Trump’s election win a week ago.
When it comes to trading alternative cryptocurrencies such as dogecoin (DOGE), South Korea, known as the “Land of the Morning Calm,” is often in stark contrast to its tranquil image.
Today is just that day as Koreans seem to be jumping into the DOGE market, driving prices higher and creating a noticeable premium on local exchanges Upbit and Bithumb relative to global giant Binance.
At press time, Upbit and Bithumb’s DOGE/KRW pairs, adjusted for the USD/KRW exchange trade, traded 1.5% higher than Binance’s DOGE/USDT, drawing the largest premium in three months, according to data source TradingView.
Premiums reflect renewed Korean appetite for DOGE, which has surged 78% since pro-crypto Donald Trump won the U.S. Presidential election a week ago.
Trading volume data suggests the same. According to 10x Research, DOGE has topped the charts as the cryptocurrency with the highest trading volume on Upbit and Bithumb since Trump’s victory. The latest 24-hour trading volume for DOGE pairs tallies a remarkable $8 billion, equivalent to 57% of the total market capitalization of all stocks in Korea, the research firm said in a note to clients Wednesday.
DOGE has gained 227% in 30 days amid long-time crypto fan and billionaire tech entrepreneur Elon Musk’s plans to start the “Department of Government Efficiency, a new wing in the Trump administration, abbreviated as D.O.G.E in a homage to the meme cryptocurrency.
On Tuesday, President-elect Donald Trump appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the D.O.G.E department.
A spike in Korean demand is typically associated with speculative fervor, often seen at market peaks. However, current premiums on local exchanges are noticeably lower than the highs recorded in March and are significantly less than the double-digit price differentials observed in early 2021.
So, there is excitement, but without the speculative frenzy observed at the bull market peaks and other things being equal, prices may continue to rise.
Options traders bet on the $1 breakout
Options activity on PowerTrade, a crypto exchange focused on derivatives tied to alternative cryptocurrencies (altcoins), points to expectations of DOGE’s price topping the $1 mark by the end of January.
“A client has bought 10K DOGE call options at the $1 strike expiring on Jan. 25 for $0.058 per contract,” PowerTrade told CoinDesk Tuesday, explaining a similar outsized bet in the December expiry options.
A $1 call option is essentially a bet that prices will surpass that level by the settlement date.
In an X post, Musk said that all Department of Government Efficiency actions will be posted online for maximum transparency.
A frenzied narrative that boosted dogecoin (DOGE) prices over 500% turned to reality on Tuesday — showcasing how memetic bets could be a strong trading thesis.
President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday that it had picked Vivek Ramaswamy and technology entrepreneur Elon Musk to lead a new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) that seeks to make government spending and administration more efficient.
The duo will work from outside the government to offer advice and guidance to drive large-scale structural reform and create an “entrepreneurial approach to Government never seen before.”
“Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies — essential to the ‘save America’ movement,” Trump said in the announcement posted on his Truth Social account.
Musk and Ramaswamy will work until July 4, 2026, on the project, Trump said.
In an X post, Musk said that all Department of Government Efficiency actions will be posted online for maximum transparency.
“Anytime the public thinks we are cutting something important or not cutting something wasteful, just let us know,” Musk said. “We will also have a leaderboard for most insanely dumb spending of your tax dollars. This will be both extremely tragic and extremely entertaining.”
A CoinDesk analysis flagged in mid-October about DOGE trade gaining interest among investors for its memetic nature, and that there could be more chatter of “DOGE” in mainstream media and retail trading circles that fuels attention and interest in the token.
DOGE prices are up nearly 250% in the past 30 days, reaching 2021 levels on Tuesday with traders now eyeing the $1 mark as a long-term price target.
In a rapidly shifting global semiconductor landscape, Vietnam is gaining traction as a leading destination for chip testing and packaging operations.
According to a recent article by Reuters, companies worldwide are expanding their semiconductor manufacturing footprint in Vietnam, aiming to diversify their supply chains and reduce reliance on single markets. This wave of investment is transforming Vietnam into a significant hub for the semiconductor industry’s back-end segment.
While back-end semiconductor manufacturing—focusing on data and infrastructure—requires less capital investment than front-end production, it remains essential for the global technology ecosystem. China and Taiwan have historically dominated this segment, but Vietnam’s competitive advantages are positioning it as an emerging player. Vietnam’s semiconductor production growth rate is now one of the fastest globally.
Strategic Expansion by Global Players
South Korea’s Hana Micron, in response to customer demands for diversified production locations, has announced significant expansion plans in Vietnam. “The response from our clients has underscored the need to expand our footprint here,” shared Hana Micron’s Vice President, Cho Hyung Rae. The company has committed to investing approximately 1.3 trillion won ($930.49 million) through 2026 to bolster its memory chip packaging operations.
Meanwhile, Amkor Technology, a leading U.S.-based semiconductor packaging and test services provider, revealed plans to invest $1.6 billion in a new 200,000-square-meter facility. The company has already begun transferring equipment from China to Vietnam, signaling confidence in the country’s potential for semiconductor advancements.
If the current investment momentum continues, Vietnam could account for around 8-9% of the global chip assembly, testing, and packaging capacity by 2032—a significant leap from just 1% in 2022, according to a report by the Global Semiconductor Industry Association and the Boston Consulting Group.
Local Enterprises Embrace Semiconductor Innovation
Vietnamese firms are not standing still amid the influx of foreign investment. Leading Vietnamese technology company FPT has inaugurated a chip testing facility near Hanoi, set to begin operations next year. With a $10 million investment, FPT plans to triple the scale of this operation by 2026. The company is also actively seeking strategic partners to bolster its semiconductor endeavors. Additionally, Vietnamese giants like Sovico and Viettel are increasing investments in semiconductor technology, contributing to Vietnam’s growing semiconductor ecosystem.
Vietnam’s Appeal for Foreign Investors
Sophie Dao, Senior Partner at GBS – Global Business Services LLC, a prominent investment consulting firm in Vietnam, expressed optimism about the country’s trajectory in the semiconductor sector. “Vietnam’s rise as a semiconductor manufacturing hub reflects its strategic advantages—skilled labor, favorable policies, and robust infrastructure,” said Dao. “We’re witnessing an unprecedented wave of investments that not only diversifies global supply chains but also elevates Vietnam’s role in the technology landscape.”
Guide to Register a Company in Vietnam
Dao further noted, “For foreign investors, Vietnam offers a blend of stability and growth. The government’s proactive approach, coupled with its commitment to industrial innovation, makes Vietnam an ideal partner for long-term investments in advanced technology sectors.”
A Bright Future for Vietnam’s Semiconductor Industry
Vietnam’s ascent in the semiconductor industry offers a unique opportunity for foreign investors to tap into a dynamic, rapidly evolving market. As international players and local enterprises continue to expand their semiconductor capabilities, Vietnam is poised to become a cornerstone of the global semiconductor supply chain.
The rising cost of urban living and stagnant income levels have made homeownership a significant challenge for residents of Vietnam’s two largest cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).
According to recent statistics from CBRE, residents of Hong Kong face the most difficult housing market, with house prices about 1.7 times higher than in other urban centers. Following closely are Manila (Philippines) and Seoul (South Korea), with housing costs approximately 2.3 times the average. Hanoi and HCMC, however, are not far behind these cities, making homeownership increasingly out of reach for many Vietnamese urban dwellers.
In Hanoi, apartment prices currently average around 2,600 USD per square meter (approximately 66 million VND/m2, inclusive of VAT and maintenance fees). With the city’s GDP per capita standing at approximately 6,300 USD, this cost presents a substantial barrier for average-income residents. Meanwhile, HCMC, with a slightly higher GDP per capita of around 7,500 USD, also has higher apartment prices averaging 2,800 USD per square meter (approximately 71 million VND/m2). This translates to an affordability ratio—measuring the gap between average income and housing costs—of around 2.4 times in Hanoi and 2.7 times in HCMC.
Tube houses in Hanoi @ AFP PHOTO
For comparison, in other major cities around the world, the average house price typically ranges between five and seven times the average income. Yet, in Vietnam, the figure climbs dramatically, with house prices in Hanoi and HCMC costing between 20 to 25 times the annual income of an average resident. This disparity not only underscores the difficulty of homeownership but also reveals a significant economic paradox and, for many, a financial tragedy.
Several factors contribute to this housing crisis in Vietnam. The rapid urbanization of Hanoi and HCMC has fueled demand for housing, but supply has not kept pace due to land scarcity, regulatory hurdles, and rising construction costs. Additionally, the interest in real estate as a long-term investment has driven property prices even higher, further alienating middle- and low-income earners from the housing market.
The government has recognized the severity of the issue, with plans to increase the supply of affordable housing and expand access to housing loans. However, experts warn that unless comprehensive solutions addressing both income growth and housing affordability are implemented, the dream of homeownership will remain out of reach for many urban Vietnamese.

Hanoi’s city government has announced plans to construct an urban rail line, Line 2, that will connect the city center directly to Nội Bài International Airport. Managed by the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB), the planned route will extend from Nam Thăng Long Urban Area, passing through Trần Hưng Đạo, Thượng Đình, and various city landmarks, before reaching the airport and continuing to Sóc Sơn District.
The project, which has been delayed in the past, is now slated to begin between 2024 and 2025. It is expected to complete fully by 2034, with the Nam Thăng Long to Nội Bài segment targeted for operation by 2030. The approved feasibility study outlines an 11.5-km route, including 2.6 km of elevated tracks and 8.9 km of tunnels, as well as 10 stations and a 17.5-hectare depot in Bắc Từ Liêm District.
With Nội Bài Airport currently seeing nearly 30 million passengers annually, primarily served by taxis, private cars, and limited buses, the rail line aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve travel convenience, especially during holiday periods. The direct rail connection promises a faster, modern transit option for locals and international travelers alike, boosting the quality of the city’s transportation infrastructure.

NDO – According to a press release from the Office of the Australian Minister for Trade and Tourism , the number of tourists from Vietnam to Australia has increased significantly since the Covid-19 pandemic. As of August 2024, nearly 178,000 Vietnamese visitors visited Australia in the past 12 months.
Tourism is an important part of Australia’s strong relationship with the fast-growing economies of Southeast Asia . Since the launch of “Invest: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040”, the country has stepped up its efforts across the region.
For Vietnam, tourism is considered a field that has reaped many practical results after cooperative efforts with Australia.
The cooperation between the Vietnamese and Australian governments has brought benefits to both countries. Vietnam has become Australia’s fastest growing international market. The number of visitors from Australia to our country is also higher than before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Australian Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell said promoting tourism between Australia and Vietnam was a key topic of discussion when he arrived in Vietnam to attend the Vietnam-Australia Economic Partnership Ministerial Meeting.
“It is encouraging to see the strong growth in the number of tourists from Vietnam to Australia. This is contributing to supporting the success and growth of Australian tourism businesses,” said Mr. Don Farrell.
Meanwhile, from the plan to organize tourism promotion activities in 2024 developed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam also identified Australia as one of the key markets, along with Japan, Korea, India, China, the UK, along with ASEAN regions, North America and Europe.
After a series of recent promotional programs in Australia, in the context of the increasingly expanding flight network connecting the two countries, the number of Australian visitors to Vietnam has also grown strongly. Thus, Vietnam is not only a potential source of visitors but also an interesting tourist destination for Australians.
