Strike Partners With Bitstamp to Make Crypto Buying Easier for European Users

Advertisements

The bitcoin payments app launched its services in Europe in April after expanding to Africa earlier this year.

Bitcoin payments app Strike has joined forces with crypto exchange Bitstamp to accelerate its expansion in the European Union by making fiat-to-crypto on-ramp easier for users, the companies announced Wednesday.

Stripe, led by Chicago-based Zap Solutions and entrepreneur Jack Mallers, launched its services in Europe in April after expanding to Africa in February.

The fintech firm offers a customizable widget that developers can embed into their product to allow conversion of crypto and instant settlement of transactions. It currently supports multiple cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Stellar (XLM), and USD Coin (USDC). The widget won’t be available to UK customers, the two companies said in a press release.

Bitstamp will help the fintech firm manage fiat-to-cryptocurrency conversion and transfers to consumers. This, in turn, will expand the crypto exchange’s Bitstamp-as-a-service product, the white-label version of its crypto trading services to banks and fintechs.

On June 6, the popular trading firm Robinhood (HOOD) said it would buy Bitstamp in a $200 million all-cash deal. The move aims to expand the exchange’s reach beyond the U.S. and compete with peers including Coinbase.

Solana-Based Memecoins Surge as SOL Jumps 38% From Monday’s Lows

Advertisements

The memecoins on the Solana network rose 30% in the past 24 hours, leading gains as a sector as optimism around SOL ETFs heats up among some.

Memecoins on the Solana ecosystem surged more than 30% in the past 24 hours, leading gains in the crypto market, as the network’s underlying token SOL, recovered from losses from earlier in the week.

Cat-themed popcat (POPCAT) and dog token dogwifhat (WIF) surged as much as 25%, before slightly retreating, while smaller tokens MUMU and catdog (CATDOG) rose 30%, data show. Major memecoins on other blockchains, such as dogecoin (DOGE) and pepe (PEPE), lost as much as 5%, showing a preference for Solana-based tokens.

Solana network volumes more than doubled to over $3.3 billion from Monday’s $1.5 billion, banking in fees of at least $750,000 per day, DefiLlama data shows. Fees generated by Pump, a popular platform used to issue new memecoins on Solana, increased to $535,000 in the past 24 hours compared to under $300,000 on Monday – indicative of higher risk-on activity among traders.

The ecosystem activity came as SOL rose 7.5%, trading over $150 in European morning hours on Wednesday to beat the broad-based CoinDesk 20’s 2.23% rise. It fell from $145 to as low as $112 on Monday amid a broader market rout but has since led gains among major tokens.

Optimism around the ecosystem comes ahead of a widely expected SOL exchange-traded fund (ETF), which could be the third spot token offered to professional U.S.-based investors behind bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH).

“The possibility of an SOL ETF shows promising signs to investors on SOL’s mainstream adoption,” Lucy Hu, senior analyst at Metalpha, told CoinDesk in a Telegram chat. “The quick rebound of SOL indicates renewed confidence in the broader crypto space as the market becomes more stabilized,”

“SOL has shown to be robust with innovations, and meme coins have been rising in popularity,” Hu added.

In early July, the CBOE submitted 19b-4 filings with the Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) asking to list VanEck’s and 21Shares’ potential spot Solana ETFs, which were initially filed in late June.

Understanding the Fundamentals of Lift Trucks and Their Functions

Forklifts can help get a lot of work done, however, they pose risks that both operators and pedestrians must watch out for. Every year more than one hundred humans lose their lives in forklift incidents and thousands extra are injured. It’s likely that you have worried about or witnessed a forklift twist of fate.

Take forklift training from an experienced instructor to keep away from forklift hazards. Here are 5 Ways To Avoid Common Forklift Hazards, so let’s have a look at these methods.

1. Do A Daily Inspection

Forklifts are specifically risky in the workplace, specifically if they are not well maintained. You need to maintain forklifts in true condition, now not handiest to avoid harm to hundreds and costly maintenance, but additionally to keep your operators secure from injury or even death. Proper training, supervision, and day-by-day inspection are important. Why?

Safe forklift operation all starts with a properly skilled operator, according to section 25(2)(d) of the OHSA, states that a company must ensure that all operators can operate forklifts, following a comprehensive training program. A key thing in working a forklift correctly is being capable of carrying out an inspection. During the inspection, operators are meant to test faults from the day gone by, tire conditions, fluid tiers, safety devices, etc.

Any problems discovered during the daily inspection are filed by the operator. And they have to repost these issues before operating it.

2. Carry Your Load Safely

Operating a forklift might also appear to be an easy component to do, however, Forklift operators want to understand all of the potential hazards. They need to discover ways to carry out their activity securely and appropriately while wearing a load. To apprehend the concept of load middle, visualize youngsters – one larger, one smaller on a see-saw. If the smaller child moves farther back in the seat and leans back, he or she will gain leverage and have more control.

A lift van with a heavy load can come to be unstable while operating on wet, oily surfaces or inclines and when making rapid turns causing your load to fall or tip over. Forklift balance is impacted by the forklift weight and size of the load.

Ensuring a stable load begins with understanding how to manage an average load securely. If you are an operator of a forklift, then you have a superb hazard of experiencing some sort of accident throughout the route of your profession.

3. Train Your Workers

The question of who has the right of way, the pedestrian or the forklift, is a common trouble and may be the reason for many forklift injuries. Is there a proper manner on a job site or in a warehouse?

The importance of educating pedestrians is simply too often neglected. Have you considered attending our basic focus schooling for non-operators, which includes groups of workers, visitors, and salespeople? You need to train your team, how to navigate around a warehouse properly and help to protect you by way of teaching you basic safety practices such as:

  • Eye-to-eye connection
  • Don’t continually believe your ears
  • Make yourself stand out
  • You cannot see them if you don’t use pedestrian lanes.

There are many stuff that the place of job can do to assist and defend people around forklifts by creating pedestrian lanes, maintaining aisles clean, and enhancing the forklift warning system inside the warehouse. These are just some of the things employers and pedestrians can do to keep the painting site safe.

4. Avoid Distractions While in Transit

You are using the forklift, looking down to read a text on your cellphone, when all of a sudden another forklift comes right at you. A coincidence can appear in less than a second. That easy distraction could have led to someone losing their way of life. Never take something onto the forklift that would distract you from being alert and aware.

Forklift operators need to keep away from distractions. Does your organization have clear regulations for forklift safety devices, drinks, food, and passengers? If no longer, then you need to set personal standards because distractions result in thousands of serious forklift accidents, some of which are fatal.

5. Beware of Indoor Hazards

With propane, diesel, fuel, or electricity, forklifts are powered. Forklifts that run on gas create exhaust fumes, however the truth is that they perform higher than electric forklifts. You can not use diesel or gasoline forklifts indoors. Only propane can be used interior to avoid any indoor hazards.

When forklift operators fail to take necessary precautions propane and different gas-related accidents can arise, probably inflicting damage to belongings, lost productivity, or in the worst instances injury to or maybe loss of life.

Vietnam Gains Green Light to Export Grapefruit to SK

Vietnamese Grapefruit Secures Export License to SK

Fresh Vietnamese grapefruit has officially been granted permission to enter the Korean market. Following in the footsteps of dragon fruit and mango, grapefruit became the third Vietnamese fruit exported to South Korea. With a population of 50 million, South Korea presents a promising opportunity for Vietnamese grapefruit producers.

Vietnam boasts over 100,000 hectares dedicated to grapefruit cultivation, yielding more than 900,000 tons annually. The Mekong Delta alone contributes approximately 32,000 hectares and 370,000 tons, marking it as a key production area. Notable varieties with strong export potential include green-skin grapefruit, Nam Roi grapefruit, and Tan Trieu grapefruit.

Successful Negotiations and Trade Promotion

After nearly two years of negotiations, Vietnamese grapefruit can now access the South Korean market. The Plant Protection Department advises stakeholders to thoroughly understand and adhere to South Korea’s plant quarantine requirements for fresh grapefruit. Prompt action in trade and export promotion activities is also recommended.

Mr. Pham Khac Tuyen, First Secretary and Head of the Trade Office at the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea, highlighted the market potential: “Annually, South Korea imports around $20 million worth of grapefruit globally. The U.S. contributes approximately $8 million, Israel $7.5 million, and South Africa about $4.5 million. While current volumes are limited, the potential for growth is substantial. Vietnam’s extensive cultivation areas and well-known varieties like green-skin and Nam Roi grapefruit are already familiar to Korean consumers through vibrant tourism and cultural exchanges.”

Expanding International Reach

The Plant Protection Department views this achievement as a significant milestone, paving the way for Vietnamese agricultural products to reach international markets. Prior to South Korea, countries like the United States and New Zealand had also approved Vietnamese fresh grapefruit. Currently, Vietnamese grapefruit is exported to 13 countries and territories, with forecasts suggesting an increase by 2025, potentially including the Australian market. Alongside durian, grapefruit continues to be a high-value export product.

5 Steps To Design The Perfect Calming Corner For Kids

Advertisements

Like adults, children can’t, at times, deal with overwhelming feelings. How do you, as a parent, help your child meet their social and emotional needs? Creating a calming corner is very instrumental at this point in supporting emotional regulation.

A calming corner, also known as a peace zone, is a safe, designated area where children can take some time out, calm down and refocus. It isn’t a timeout spot but has tools to help kids manage big feelings.

This quiet corner communicates a strong message to students who need it. They feel valued, loved, and appreciated for who they are at their most vulnerable moments. It teaches them to identify their feelings and develop essential coping skills to help them keep positive relationships and make the right decisions.

Below is a guide that will help you implement your children’s calming corner successfully.

Step 1: Choice of Location

Choosing the right location is very important. However, you need to consider factors such as it should be a quiet and comfortable place with minimum or no noise at all. Watch out for enough natural light and good ventilation. It should not be at the center of the activity but should be easy to get to. It can be some nook in a room or even a closet space, but ensure it’s safe, cozy, and inviting.

Adding a calming corner to your living space will substantially improve the ambiance of your home or classroom. Designate one corner of your living room or your child’s room as this corner. Just make sure it’s free of noise and interruptions to create a focused space that will hold onto relaxation and calmness.

The aesthetic appeal can come from the soft color tones and cozy items. Easy seating, like a beanbag or soft cushions, may also provide ease and comfort. It should be private, but not to the point where you can’t see and monitor your child.

Step 2: Add Comforting Elements

Your calm-down room should include comforting tools to help your child manage their flight or big feelings. Without these tools, this quiet zone is incomplete, as they are crucial in promoting feelings of relaxation and safety. Comfort items can include soft pillow areas, a nice soft chair, and a cozy blanket. Sensory toys like stress balls, fidget spinners, and weighted blankets can also be added.

Consider things that will appeal to different senses: textures, color, etc. At this point, items like a tiny diffuser with calming fragrances—lavender or chamomile, for instance—to calm the mind come into play. Dim light, such as from a nightlight or even a string of fairy lights, may help set the tone. The intention is to have this corner rich in sensory experience to let the children feel safe and calm.

Step 3: Include Self-Regulation Tools

Fill the nook with tools to support children to develop self-regulation. These can be visual aids, books, and activities through which to teach strategies for regulating their emotions. Some great materials include picture books on emotions, coloring books of these pictures, and mindfulness cards. Feelings chart or an emotional feelings wheel to identify and name feelings.

Another valuable tool is the breathing exercises. Place a simple guide or signage with deep breathing techniques in the corner. A glitter jar or a calm-down bottle could be a wonderful visual to help the kids stay focused and calm down. These tools will provide children with ways to manage their feelings.

Step 4: Establish a Routine

Regular use of the calming corner is important. Encourage the kids to use the space often and not only when upset; it should be part of the daily routine. This will make the calming corner a normal place and teach the students how to use it proactively.

Illustrate to your child how to use their calming corner and when. For example, he can turn to the corner when everything is so overwhelming that he has become too sad or very angry. Demonstrate to your children how they can use these tools and other techniques to harness the potential of this newly created space. The more consistently they use a calming corner, the more they develop habits related to self-regulation that will build up and thus be beneficial in the long term.

Step 5: Make the Space Personal

Personalize the calming corner and make it a place for your child. Involve them in planning its design and decoration. Let them choose some items or colors you’d like to use. As a result, they’ll get a sense of ownership, thus making them feel that it is a special place.

Add personal touches such as family photographs, drawings, plants, or their favorite book. These can prove to be comforting and familiar. The more personalized it is, the more willing your child will be to tap into and benefit from it. Make sure the things chosen are safe and age-appropriate.

Conclusion

A calm corner for kids is a great way to help care for children’s emotional needs.

An effective physical calm corner area can be designed by choosing the right location, adding soothing elements, tools for self-regulation, establishing a routine, and personalization. Since this is a dedicated space, it will help your child manage his emotions better and develop essential self-regulation skills.

Vietnam’s tourism gains appeal through international festivals

Advertisements

Organizing festivals of international stature is a strategy many provinces and cities are adopting to enhance the appeal of the tourism sector.

Vietnam’s tourism industry has already established a brand on the international stage due to its stunning natural conditions. However, to maintain its allure for tourists, in addition to preserving nature and landscapes, creating new and exciting experiences for visitors, such as international festivals, is a strategy being implemented by many provinces and cities, yielding numerous positive benefits.

Blue seas, white sands, and golden sunshine have always been the tourism strengths of many cities in Vietnam. Not only do these excellent natural conditions attract tourists, but in recent times, many provinces and cities have continuously organized internationally-scaled festivals that draw significant attention from tourists. Examples include the Water Festival (Ho Chi Minh City), the International Light Festival (Nha Trang), the International Fireworks Festival, and the Enjoy Danang Festival (Da Nang).

Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2024) has attracted a lot of tourists here recently.

Ms. Lynda Brandt (a Swiss tourist) commented: “I think it’s wonderful. I have seen fireworks before, but not on this scale. I am happy I decided to come here to witness Da Nang’s international fireworks festival. Perhaps I will return next year.”

According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism, from July 11 to 13 (the time of the International Fireworks Festival finals), the number of flights to the city increased by over 40% compared to normal days. The city’s hotel occupancy rate nearly reached its maximum, with a fill rate of up to 95%; the capacity of cruise ships reached 100%.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism, emphasized: “Da Nang’s festival events, especially the international fireworks festival, have become a unique brand of the city. We will continue to elevate them and hope that in the future these festivals will increasingly promote their value while attracting more international markets to Da Nang.”

Historical and cultural factors are also integrated and conveyed through festivals, helping tourists understand more about the destination and evoke a love for the homeland among locals.

Mr. Ngo Thanh Tung (Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City) said: “Seeing the image of surfers wearing the national flag with music made me feel very emotional and proud that my city has such a worthy tourism product to enjoy.”

Mr. Phung Quang Thang, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, shared: “To attract tourists to destinations and highlight the local cultural features, we need to invest more in event activities that are both traditional and modern.”

The development of international-scale festivals is expected not only to become a “magnet” attracting and expanding the international tourist market to Vietnam but also to strengthen the brand and generate significant revenue for localities.

Top 8 Signs Your Basement Needs Waterproofing ASAP

Advertisements

Top 8 Signs Your Basement Needs Waterproofing ASAP

Did you know waterproofing your basement should be your priority if you find any indications of ongoing moisture problems or water seepage? The indicators that your basement requires waterproofing immediately are mold or mildew growth; efflorescence (a white, chalky residue) on surfaces; frequent leaks or puddles after rain; peeling paint or wallpaper as a result of water damage; and visible water stains or discoloration on walls and floors.

Not only do these signs point to water issues, but they also indicate possible structural damage and health risks if not addressed. Your home’s foundation, indoor air quality, and your family’s health can all be enhanced by waterproofing your basement, which also helps avoid expensive repairs down the road. Taking care of these warning signals quickly can keep your basement dry and usable for a long time, saving you money and frustration.

1.Water Stains

If you notice water stains on the walls or floors of your basement, it could be time to waterproof it. These discolorations can be signs of water seepage through the walls or foundation. Excessive moisture buildup is indicated by stains and a musty or moldy odor that may permeate the air. It is vital to contact a trusted waterproofing Philadelphia company immediately if you observe any of these indicators. Based on their findings, they can advise you on the best waterproofing solutions for your basement after evaluating the level of water damage.

2. Mildew

Mold can be seen on surfaces as fuzzy, greenish-black patches. A musty odor could be present as well. However, mold poses serious health risks and is thus more than just an annoyance.

Respiratory problems and allergic reactions can be triggered by inhaling mold spores. Even more significant health issues can be caused by mycotoxins, which are produced by some molds. Mold can cause neurological diseases and immune system deficits if exposed to it for an extended period.

3. The phyllosphere

Despite its aesthetic appeal, efflorescence on basement walls should be taken seriously. Water seeping through the walls brings dissolved minerals to the surface, producing a white, powdery substance. This is ugly and may harm your home’s structure in the long run.

Light reflected off these mineral deposits creates a sparkling effect.

Pay attention if you see something glistening in your basement. Foundation waterproofing services should be called immediately. Your basement has probably begun to experience water seepage.

To find out where the leak is coming from, you can arrange for a comprehensive assessment.

4. A Musty or Wet Odor

A musty or wet odor in the basement can be an indication of water seepage that is producing problems. The development of mold, which poses a significant threat to your family’s health, may result from this.

As soon as you notice a problem, you should investigate the source of the water and repair any foundational fractures or leaks. If you want the work done right, hire a waterproofing company.

5. Corrosion

Metal surfaces in your basement that begin to rust are a sure sign that there is moisture there. Failure to promptly treat this moisture might result in the formation of mold and structural damage.

If your basement is damp, rust can form on any iron objects you have in there. The outcome could be corroded nails and hinges.

While you’re walking around, be sure to check for rust. Make sure you have checked all of the room’s metal fixtures. Even a small amount of rust could indicate water creeping into the basement.

One of the first indicators of water damage is rust. Your prompt response is paramount. If you get assistance immediately, you have a better chance of reducing the severity of the problem.

If you don’t, the problem can permeate your entire home and basement, and repairs and waterproofing could cost you more money.

6. Walls that sag

The sight of bowed walls is unsettling, but it usually indicates that your basement needs waterproofing. Walls can be bent or cracked when water seeps into the earth around your foundation and presses on them.

You must immediately resolve this matter and prevent further harm to your home.

7. Cracks in the Floor or Walls

Be very concerned if you notice any cracks in the basement’s walls or floor; they may be signs of a more significant issue with water seepage. Mold and mildew can flourish in damp basements caused by even the smallest openings.

Bitcoin’s Unreliable Death Cross Is Looming Again

Indicators like the death cross are inherently lagging and offer limited predictive power.

Some indicators are inherently lagging and offer limited predictive power, yet they consistently make headlines in traditional and crypto markets, often resulting in unnecessary panic among inexperienced investors.

One such example is the bitcoin (BTC) death cross, which tends to spark heightened fear and impulsive reactions on social media despite its poor record of accurately predicting future price trends. So get ready, because one seems to be on the way.

A death cross occurs when the 50-day simple moving average (SMA) of an asset’s market price falls below the 200-day SMA. Right now, the bitcoin price’s 50-day SMA is at $62,332 and falling, indicating a potential crossover with the 200-day SMA at $61,605.

The impending crossover indicates that short-term momentum, represented by the 50-day SMA, is underperforming the long-term average.

This development is widely interpreted as a bearish signal and leads to catastrophizing – a cognitive distortion that prompts inexperienced traders to jump to the worst possible conclusion, often with limited information and understanding. Overreaction is typical, especially when sentiment is already sour, as in the BTC market. The cryptocurrency has dropped over 20% to $55,000 in one week, according to CoinDesk data.

In reality, the chart pattern only shows the nature of the price action over the recent 50 days. It doesn’t guarantee future moves will follow in the same direction.

The previous death cross confirmed on Sept. 12, 2023, was a major bear trap. BTC bottomed out at $24,900 on the same day and never looked back, eventually reaching new record highs above $70,000 in March this year. Investors who’d positioned for further declines were caught out.

The previous nine death crosses have a mixed record, with only five presaging prolonged downtrends, as CoinDesk discussed last year.

To sum up, the death cross is unreliable as a standalone indicator. Bitcoin’s near-term prospects largely depend on the U.S. economic data and the volatility in the Japanese yen. Continued demand for the yen in the foreign exchange markets may further dent carry trades and keep risk assets, including BTC, under pressure.
