Bitcoin (BTC) miners are attractive partners to help build artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, due to their available power supplies and operating capabilities, broker Bernstein said in a research report on Tuesday.

Recent AI deals including Core Scientific’s (CORZ) 12-year agreement with CoreWeave and Coatue Management’s $150 million investment in Hut 8 (HUT) have become key catalysts for the sector, the report said.

Bernstein initiated coverage of miner Iris Energy (IREN) with an outperform rating and a $26 price target. The broker also initiated coverage of Core Scientific with an outperform rating and a $17 objective. Iris Energy was trading at $13.40 in early trading on Tuesday, Core Scientific at $9.79.

Bitcoin miners have secured large amounts of power supply, and today control about 6 gigawatts (GW) of power access with a pipeline of up to 12 GW by 2027, the report noted. The miners have a lead in the “large load power interconnect queue” and therefore can help potential partners save time in securing energy supplies.

“Bitcoin data centers are ideal for retrofit due to high power density racks, cooling infrastructure and general data center operating capabilities,” analysts led by Gautam Chhugani wrote, adding that “we expect 20% of bitcoin miner’s power capacity to pivot to AI by 2027 end.”

The five largest U.S. bitcoin miners are expected to continue consolidating scale and to grow to about 25% of the bitcoin global hashrate, with the medium-term option to pivot to AI, Bernstein said. Hashrate is a proxy for competition in the industry and mining difficulty.

The broker remains a bitcoin bull, and forecasts the asset reaching $200,000 by 2025, $500,000 by 2029 and more than $1 million by 2033, and following the successful launch of spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the U.S. in January it said its conviction is higher.

Consensys, the Ethereum software developer firm that built the MetaMask wallet, shared Tuesday that it is launching a “MetaMask Delegation Toolkit,” aimed at making the user experience of blockchain applications more seamless.

The news was announced at the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) in Brussels, Belgium, where the company plans to begin onboarding developers to use its new product.

According to a press release shared with CoinDesk, the Delegation Toolkit will allow for instant user onboarding without needing to interact with a traditional wallet, in addition to eliminating “user friction completely,” meaning no pop-ups or confirmations when switching between a decentralized application and wallet.

In addition, Consensys said that the toolkit is supposed to simplify smart contract development, and allow developers to reassign gas costs to others – aiming to make it possible for developers to determine that certain individuals will not have to pay any fees.

The Delegation Toolkit will be available for any chain that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, “supported by a User Operation Bundler, including Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Linea, Optimism and Polygon,” Consensys said.

“The MetaMask Delegation Toolkit will allow seamless onboarding of users into a new generation of dynamic and nimble experiences, which benefit from the kinds of rich collaboration that can only come from a new paradigm of authorization and composability,” said Dan Finlay, co-founder of MetaMask, in the press release.

Bitcoin ETF Traders Buy The Dip With Nearly $300M Inflows

Net inflows on Monday were the highest since early June, data shows, with Blackrock’s BTC ETF taking on almost $190 million.

Spot bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded nearly $300 million in net inflows on Monday, marking their highest buying activity since early June when the cryptocurrency traded over $70,000.

SoSoValue data show that market leader BlackRock’s IBIT led buying activity with nearly $180 million in net inflows, followed by Fidelity’s FBTC. Grayscale’s GBTC—infamous for its outflows—recorded over $25 million in purchases.

ETFs offered by Invesco, Franklin Templeton, Valkyrie, WisdomTree and Hashdex showed no inflow or outflow activity.

Strong inflows come as bitcoin faces significant selling pressure from various sources, such as repayments tied to defunct crypto exchange Mt. Gox and a German government entity moving hundreds of millions worth of BTC to exchanges in the past month.

As such, some investors may be viewing the selling pressure as a buying opportunity, investment firm CoinShares said in a Monday report.

“Digital asset investment products saw inflows totaling US$441m, with recent price weakness prompted by Mt Gox and the German Government selling pressure likely being seen as a buying opportunity,” CoinShares said. “However, volumes in Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) remained relatively low at US$7.9 billion for the week, reflecting the typical seasonal pattern of lower volumes in the summer months.”

Traders largely expect July to be a generally bullish month for the crypto market as it has seen a medium return of 9% historically, with the trend expected to continue.

Vietnam Named Most Affordable Country for Expats

Vietnam has been ranked as the most affordable country for expats by InterNations, a global community of expatriates. In the Expat Insider 2024 Ranking, which surveyed over 12,500 expats in 53 countries, Vietnam topped the list for personal finances, marking its fourth consecutive year in this position.

The survey evaluated five categories: quality of life, life stability, work, personal finances, and essential needs. Vietnam also ranked 14th for working conditions and 40th for quality of life.

According to the survey, 86% of expats in Vietnam rated the cost of living as good, significantly higher than the global average. Additionally, 65% were satisfied with their financial situation, and 68% reported having more than enough disposable income for a comfortable life. Interestingly, 19% of expats in Vietnam earned an annual income of $150,000 or more, compared to 10% globally.

Overall, expats in Vietnam enjoy not only low living costs but also high salaries and job satisfaction.

Bitcoin Drops as German Government Moves Another $500M of Assets

Wallets linked to the German government still hold some 23,800 bitcoin, according to Arkham Intelligence data.

Bitcoin (BTC) fell on Monday afternoon in Europe as the German government moved another $500 million of assets, blockchain data shows.

According to blockchain data platform Arkham Intelligence, a Bitcoin address tagged as belonging to the German government moved 8,700 BTC to an intermediate wallet before transferring assets to crypto exchanges Bitstamp, Kraken and Coinbase and market maker Flow Traders.

Bitcoin’s price dropped 3% to as low as $55,000 shortly after the blockchain transactions. Later, it rebounded to slightly above $56,000, still down 1.2% over the past 24 hours.

The price action came after last week’s slide to the lowest price since February. Market observers pointed to a massive supply overhang coming to the market during the relatively quiet and low-volume summer season with the German and U.S. governments apparently selling seized assets just as the defunct crypto exchange Mt. Gox starts to issue repayments.

With the latest transfers, the German authorities holdings have now reduced to 23,788 BTC worth $1.3 billion from 50,000 BTC since it started unloading tokens last month, according to Arkham data.

Lao newspaper amazed by the growth rate of Vietnam’s tourism

Laophattananews, the publication of the Lao Journalists’ Association, recently published an article highlighting its positive impression of the growth rate of Vietnam’s tourism industry.

According to information cited in the article, Vietnam welcomed over 8.8 million international visitors in the first half of the year, an increase of 4.1% compared to the period before the Covid-19 pandemic.

The news site also provided data on the number of tourists arriving in Vietnam by air this year, accounting for 83.8%, equivalent to 7.4 million visitors.

The article also expressed an impression of the number of tourists coming to Vietnam from the Northeast Asian region, such as South Korea and China. According to the survey, tourists from this region accounted for up to 47.2% of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam.

Laophattananews stated that these are the two main markets helping Vietnam’s tourism industry to recover rapidly. In addition, the number of tourists from China to Vietnam also saw the strongest increase recorded in the past two years.

The newspaper commented that the number of international visitors to Vietnam would continue to increase strongly in the second half of the year, predicting that “Lao’s neighboring country” will achieve the goal of welcoming 17 to 18 million foreign tourists this year.

Six northern mountain provinces to organize heritage-linked tourism programs
