Vietnam Airlines receives the first Airbus A320neo

Vietnam Airlines Corporation (HoSE: HVN) announced that it has just received the “rookie” Airbus A320neo aircraft joining its fleet.

“The presence of the Airbus A320neo is particularly significant in the context of the aviation industry facing a shortage of aircraft due to the global recall of engines by manufacturers,” a representative of Vietnam Airlines assessed.

This is the first of three Airbus A320neo aircraft that Vietnam Airlines will receive this year. The Airbus A320neo is expected to take off on domestic routes such as Hanoi – Da Lat, Hanoi – Phu Quoc, Ho Chi Minh City – Thanh Hoa, and Ho Chi Minh City – Chu Lai.

With 182 seats, the Airbus A320neo is fully equipped with modern amenities such as a wireless IFE entertainment system, spacious seat pitch (28-29 inches), and a maximum recline of 5 inches.

In addition to the three Airbus A320neo aircraft, Vietnam Airlines will also continue to receive Boeing 787-10 wide-body aircraft in the near future. This is one of the largest aircraft in the Boeing 787 product line and also the largest passenger aircraft in Vietnam’s aviation industry today.

At the end of June, Bamboo Airways also wet-leased an Airbus A320 from Royal Air Philippines. This is the third aircraft the airline has added to its fleet since the beginning of the year.

Currently, the total number of aircraft being operated by domestic airlines is about 160, a shortage of 60-70 aircraft compared to pre-pandemic levels.

Suspension of high-speed boat service between Ho Chi Minh City and Con Dao after 2 months of operation

Phu Quoc High-Speed Ferry Joint Stock Company has issued a notice to temporarily suspend the operation of the Ho Chi Minh City – Con Dao route and vice versa from July 29 due to ineffective operations.

The Thang Long high-speed ferry running the Ho Chi Minh City – Con Dao route, operated by Phu Quoc High-Speed Ferry JSC (Phu Quoc Express), with a capacity of up to 1,017 seats, has been in operation since mid-May.

After nearly two months of operation, the performance has not met expectations. Phu Quoc Express has notified partners, ticket offices, customers, and relevant authorities about the temporary suspension of the Thang Long ferry on the Ho Chi Minh City – Con Dao route and vice versa from July 29 until further notice.

During this time, the Thang Long ferry will continue to operate normally on the Vung Tau – Con Dao route and vice versa according to the schedule.

Previously, Mr. Vu Van Khuong, General Director of Phu Quoc Express, stated that the number of passengers on the Ho Chi Minh City – Con Dao route did not meet expectations after two weeks of operation. The journey from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Saigon – Hiep Phuoc Port (Nha Be District) is still quite far, and the transfer process has many issues, reducing the route’s attractiveness. Therefore, the company has decided to suspend this route to make appropriate adjustments temporarily.

Consensys, the Ethereum software developer firm that built the MetaMask wallet, shared Tuesday that it is launching a “MetaMask Delegation Toolkit,” aimed at making the user experience of blockchain applications more seamless.

The news was announced at the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) in Brussels, Belgium, where the company plans to begin onboarding developers to use its new product.

According to a press release shared with CoinDesk, the Delegation Toolkit will allow for instant user onboarding without needing to interact with a traditional wallet, in addition to eliminating “user friction completely,” meaning no pop-ups or confirmations when switching between a decentralized application and wallet.

In addition, Consensys said that the toolkit is supposed to simplify smart contract development, and allow developers to reassign gas costs to others – aiming to make it possible for developers to determine that certain individuals will not have to pay any fees.

The Delegation Toolkit will be available for any chain that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, “supported by a User Operation Bundler, including Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Linea, Optimism and Polygon,” Consensys said.

Bitcoin ETF Traders Buy The Dip With Nearly $300M Inflows

Net inflows on Monday were the highest since early June, data shows, with Blackrock’s BTC ETF taking on almost $190 million.

Spot bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded nearly $300 million in net inflows on Monday, marking their highest buying activity since early June when the cryptocurrency traded over $70,000.

SoSoValue data show that market leader BlackRock’s IBIT led buying activity with nearly $180 million in net inflows, followed by Fidelity’s FBTC. Grayscale’s GBTC—infamous for its outflows—recorded over $25 million in purchases.

ETFs offered by Invesco, Franklin Templeton, Valkyrie, WisdomTree and Hashdex showed no inflow or outflow activity.

Strong inflows come as bitcoin faces significant selling pressure from various sources, such as repayments tied to defunct crypto exchange Mt. Gox and a German government entity moving hundreds of millions worth of BTC to exchanges in the past month.

As such, some investors may be viewing the selling pressure as a buying opportunity, investment firm CoinShares said in a Monday report.

“Digital asset investment products saw inflows totaling US$441m, with recent price weakness prompted by Mt Gox and the German Government selling pressure likely being seen as a buying opportunity,” CoinShares said. “However, volumes in Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) remained relatively low at US$7.9 billion for the week, reflecting the typical seasonal pattern of lower volumes in the summer months.”

Traders largely expect July to be a generally bullish month for the crypto market as it has seen a medium return of 9% historically, with the trend expected to continue.

In the Expat Insider 2024 Ranking, which surveyed over 12,500 expats in 53 countries, Vietnam topped the list for personal finances, marking its fourth consecutive year in this position.

The survey evaluated five categories: quality of life, life stability, work, personal finances, and essential needs. Vietnam also ranked 14th for working conditions and 40th for quality of life.

According to the survey, 86% of expats in Vietnam rated the cost of living as good, significantly higher than the global average. Bitcoin Drops as German Government Moves Another $500M of Assets

Wallets linked to the German government still hold some 23,800 bitcoin, according to Arkham Intelligence data.

Bitcoin (BTC) fell on Monday afternoon in Europe as the German government moved another $500 million of assets, blockchain data shows.

According to blockchain data platform Arkham Intelligence, a Bitcoin address tagged as belonging to the German government moved 8,700 BTC to an intermediate wallet before transferring assets to crypto exchanges Bitstamp, Kraken and Coinbase and market maker Flow Traders.

Bitcoin’s price dropped 3% to as low as $55,000 shortly after the blockchain transactions. Later, it rebounded to slightly above $56,000, still down 1.2% over the past 24 hours.

The price action came after last week’s slide to the lowest price since February. Market observers pointed to a massive supply overhang coming to the market during the relatively quiet and low-volume summer season with the German and U.S. governments apparently selling seized assets just as the defunct crypto exchange Mt. Gox starts to issue repayments.

With the latest transfers, the German authorities holdings have now reduced to 23,788 BTC worth $1.3 billion from 50,000 BTC since it started unloading tokens last month, according to Arkham data.
