Ho Chi Minh City’s plan to reduce vehicle pollution by 85%

Advertisements

Ho Chi Minh City is tackling its air pollution problem head-on with a focused plan to drastically reduce vehicle emissions. By 2025, the city aims to cut down air pollution caused by traffic by a whopping 85% compared to current levels.

In the upcoming years (2024-2025), the city will implement strict measures to control emissions from vehicles. This includes better enforcement of regulations, using new technology, and spreading awareness among the public.

Recognizing that industrial emissions are also a big contributor to pollution, the city is taking steps to address this issue too. Almost all industrial facilities (97%) that produce dust and emissions will have to treat their exhaust gases to meet environmental standards.

To keep a close eye on pollution levels, the plan requires big industrial facilities to install automatic emission monitoring equipment. This gear will send data directly to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment in real time.

Through these efforts, Ho Chi Minh City is on track to become cleaner and greener, setting an example for other cities around the world.

On April 3rd, information from the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province stated that the province had approved the investment principle of the Eo Gio Eco-tourism Area project (Quy Nhon City), including the glass bridge component.

The Eo Gio Eco-tourism Area project is planned with various types of comprehensive tourism services, including sightseeing glass bridges, scenic viewing platforms, balcony viewing areas, restaurants, and other supporting services.

Eo Gio is one of the most famous spots in Binh Dinh

The expected area of the Eo Gio Eco-tourism Area is 10.44 hectares with a total initial investment capital of approximately 77.8 billion VND.

The project implementation period is 48 months from the date of decision to recognize the results of land use rights auction or approval decision of the investor. The completion of preparatory investment procedures should not exceed 12 months.

At the end of 2015, the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh Province proposed the implementation of the high-end eco-tourism resort project Eo Gio with a total investment capital of 1.6 trillion VND.

Vietnamese dish honored in the top best flour cakes in the world

Recently, Vietnam’s banh bot loc (translucent dumplings) has been honored by the renowned American news agency CNN as one of the world’s tastiest dumplings.

Food experts acknowledge that dumplings made from dough with various fillings, found across the globe, range from simple to complex preparations, retaining the distinctive flavors of their regions, appealing to a wide range of palates.

Banh bot loc is the only Vietnamese dish listed in CNN’s “The world’s tastiest dumplings” announced on March 28th. It consists of shrimp and pork filling encased in a translucent tapioca flour wrapper. The transparent dough differs from other dumplings like har gow and bao.

The outer tapioca dough is chewy, complementing the sweet filling from the pork, shrimp, etc. The recipe for banh bot loc can vary regionally. For instance, in Northern Vietnam, the filling might include ground pork, wood ear mushrooms, and possibly shrimp. In Central Vietnam, there are various types: leaf-wrapped, plain, vegetarian, fried, with savory or sweet fillings.

The dumplings are commonly served with sweet and sour fish sauce to enhance the flavor. They can be wrapped in banana leaves or not, prepared by steaming or boiling.

Banh bot loc is a well-known dish in Vietnam, originating from Hue and later becoming popular nationwide. Diners can find and enjoy it in most provinces and cities.

In addition to Vietnam’s banh bot loc, the list is topped by xiaolongbao, a type of dim sum popular in China, similar to dumplings but filled with pork, shrimp, crab, or minced vegetables. This dish is also known as soup dumplings because inside the thin and chewy wrapper is hot broth.

Moreover, there are many other famous dumplings and dumpling-like dishes worldwide such as mandu (Korea), Pierogi (Poland), Pelmeni (Russia), spicy wontons (China), Empanada (Argentina)…

Previously, CNN also released a list of the “20 most delicious meat-based broths in the world,” including Vietnam’s pho bo.

Hue among the top places need to be known more

Yahoo Finance ranks Vietnam’s Hue in the list of destinations to know more about in Asia. Hachimantai (Japan), Skardu (Pakistan) are also included in this list.

Hue is the ‘hidden gem’ of Asia, according to Yahoo Finance. Photo: Quynh Danh.

In mid-March, Yahoo Finance published a short analysis of the tourism situation in Asia, along with suggestions for 20 destinations that travelers should be more aware of. Among them, the city of Hue in Vietnam is mentioned.

Yahoo Finance believes that Hue is one of the destinations in the S-shaped country that needs to be widely promoted. This city was once the capital of the Nguyen dynasty, and many historical relics of the city are well preserved, including the Imperial City (the Citadel).

“Hue has several UNESCO-recognized heritage sites, including temples, palaces, and pagodas, showcasing the power and traditions from the country’s previous dynasties. Furthermore, in autumn, the city exudes a naturally sweet fragrance, creating an interesting experience for tourists,” Yahoo Finance describes.

In addition to Vietnam’s representation, the city of Skardu in Pakistan is also present in this suggested list. Yahoo Finance calls this destination “a paradise for mountain tourism” due to its strategic location, nestled in the heart of the Karakoram mountain range, with peaks exceeding 7,000 meters.

Hachimantai (Japan) is also highly rated by the newspaper. Unlike the bustling urban areas with skyscrapers in Tokyo, Hachimantai bears the mark of nature, renowned for its year-round skiing resort. This is also an ideal destination for tourists to explore natural hot springs. The city offers tourists a more authentic experience of Japanese tradition rather than contemporary culture in Tokyo.

Regarding the Asian tourism market, Yahoo Finance notes that the demand for travel has surged since governments lifted travel restrictions.

In terms of the overall outlook for the global tourism industry, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) stated that in 2023, the tourism market had recovered about 88%. This figure is expected to surpass the threshold in 2024. However, economic difficulties are changing tourists’ travel habits. They desire to explore truly new and unfamiliar destinations.

Referring to tourism in the Asian region, Yahoo Finance believes that the continent, which has the largest land area in the world, still has great potential for tourism development despite being the first affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Evidence of this is that Asia still has 8 out of 10 places on Tripadvisor’s top destinations list for 2024 as voted by readers worldwide.

“It’s great to see long-haul flights to Asia gradually recovering,” commented Tripadvisor’s Editor-in-Chief.

Cambodian tourists flock to Vietnam, increasing by 335%

Advertisements

According to the data from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Cambodian tourists lead the recovery of Vietnam’s tourism compared to the same period in the first quarter of 2019 – the peak year of the tourism industry – with an increase of 335%.

Specifically, in the past three months, there have been 113,000 Cambodian tourists visiting Vietnam, while there were only 34,000 Cambodian arrivals in the first three months of 2019.

Cambodian delegation visits Phu Quoc

The second-highest recovery rate is from the potential Indian market at 304%, followed by Indonesia at 188%, Taiwan at 145%, Laos at 125%, Singapore at 122%, and South Korea at 111%. In Europe, Spain achieved a recovery rate of 123%, Germany 108%, and the UK 102%. Furthermore, the US market also exceeded the recovery rate at 106%, while Australia reached 122% compared to the same period in 2019.

As for the long-standing leading market of Vietnam tourism, Chinese tourists, in the first three months of 2024, the recovery rate reached 69%, showing optimistic signs compared to 30% at the end of the previous year.

It is noteworthy that some nearby traditional markets of Vietnam’s tourism are experiencing a decline as the numbers are lower than the same period in 2019. For example, Thai tourists reached only 95%, Japanese tourists 77%, Malaysian tourists did not increase, and Russian tourists have only recovered to 27%.

Mr. Truong Duc Hai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hon Ngoc Vien Dong Tourism Company, stated that Cambodian tourists visiting Vietnam mainly consist of three main groups: traders, medical tourists, and leisure tourists. “Previously, Cambodian tourists to Vietnam mostly visited Tay Ninh, toured Ba Den Mountain, and mostly came on the first day or full moon day of the month. However, since the pandemic, many Cambodian tourists have been coming through Ha Tien, then taking boats to Phu Quoc. Phu Quoc Island is now a favorite destination for Cambodian tourists,” Mr. Hai said.

Moreover, according to Cambodian media, besides Phu Quoc, Cambodian tourists also highly favor coastal cities in central Vietnam such as Danang, Hoi An Ancient Town, Dalat, Nha Trang, and Vung Tau. Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has also implemented many medical tourism promotion programs to attract Cambodian tourists in 2023…

Warning for Altcoin Bulls: The Ether-Bitcoin Ratio Is About to Flash Death Cross

Advertisements

A death cross occurs when a short-term moving average drops below the long-term moving average, signaling a potential long-term bearish shift in momentum.

Technical analysis is flashing several warning signals to alternative cryptocurrency (altcoin) bulls, with the ether-bitcoin (ETH/BTC) ratio dropping below a support level and on the verge of falling into an ominous death-cross technical pattern. The options market shows investors are taking the hint.

A death cross occurs when a short-term moving average drops below the long-term moving average, signaling a potential long-term bearish shift in momentum.

The ratio’s 50-week simple moving average (SMA) appears on track to cross below the 200-week SMA, according to charting platform TradingView. The impending death cross signals risk aversion or prolonged underperformance of ether (ETH) and other altcoins relative to bitcoin (BTC).

Since 2017, the crypto market has oscillated between bitcoin-led regimes and altcoin-led regimes. More importantly, altcoin leadership has been characterized by a rising ETH/BTC ratio. In other words, traders are willing to take more risk when ether is outperforming bitcoin and vice versa.

The ETH/BTC ratio has dropped nearly 10% to 0.048 this year, TradingView data show .

“The ETHBTC cross is testing a critical support level after breaking below 0.05,” Singapore-based QCP Capital said in a market note Friday. “There has been a persistent large selling of ETH calls which has crushed [volatility] and also put some downside pressure on price. Could this again be a very early signal of [bullish] FOMO turning into fear in ETH as a proxy for alts.”

The way bitcoin and ether options are currently priced on Deribit, the leading derivatives exchange, also points to expectations for ether underperformance in the near term.

At press time, ether puts expiring in seven days, one and two months traded at premiums of 5%, 3% and 0.3%, respectively, to calls. A put option gives the purchaser the right, but not the obligation, to sell the underlying asset at a predetermined price at a later date. A call option gives the right to buy, so the premium for puts – which provide protection against a price decline – indicates a bearish outlook.

In bitcoin’s case, the bias was for calls across maturities, excluding seven-day options.

Bitcoin Miner Hut 8 Has Larger, More Diversified Business Model Following USBTC Merger: Canaccord

Advertisements

The broker cut its price target to $14 from $17.50 while maintaining its buy rating.

Bitcoin (BTC) miner Hut 8 (HUT) is a much more diversified company with multiple revenue streams following the completion of its merger with US Bitcoin Corp. (USBTC) at the end of last year, broker Canaccord Genuity said in a research report on Thursday.

“New Hut 8 has ~7 exahashes per second (EH/s) of self-mining capacity and revenue from self-mining accounts for ~68% of revenue today with the remaining coming from managed services, hosting and high-performance computing (HPC),” analysts led by Joseph Vafi wrote.

The broker lowered its price target on the stock to $14 from $17.50 while maintaining its buy rating. Hut 8 closed at $9.69 on Thursday.

After the business combination was completed, Hut 8 launched a restructuring program to lower costs and increase cash flow, Canaccord noted.

“To that end, the company has deployed USBTC’s proprietary technology across all the facilities,” the authors wrote. “By using an energy management software, the company now only mines BTC when it’s profitable.”

With the bitcoin halving event expected later this month, management is taking a more considered approach to buying new mining machines, which indicates it is “prioritizing efficiency over scale at least in the near term,” the report said.

Canaccord said it was encouraged by the scale of the managed services business, noting that the partnership with Iconic Digital will generate more than $20 million in cash a year.

“Finally, a HODL of over 9,000 BTC also provides significant flexibility to the company,” the report added.

Hut 8’s former CEO Jamie Leverton left the company in February, just weeks after the firm was hit by a short-seller report. She was succeeded by the company’s president, Asher Genoot, who co-founded U.S. Bitcoin Corp., and became president and director of Hut 8 in November after the merger.

Reading The Charts: A Beginner’s Guide To Understanding Technical Analysis

Reading The Charts: A Beginner’s Guide To Understanding Technical Analysis

The goal of trading is to win, which means making consistent profits. But it’s easier said than done. Winning in reading takes a good understanding and analysis of the market. Most traders skip this crucial step, which explains why many are not profitable.

There are two main ways of analyzing assets: technical and fundamental analysis. To make informed decisions with technical analysis, you must be able to read charts and analyze historical price and volume data. The charts show how prices move over time. Accurately reading charts and understanding trends and how economic events affect prices gives you an edge.

Are you new to investing and wish to expand your knowledge of technical analysis? We are here to help. Read on to understand why reading charts is crucial in technical analysis and other essential details.

Understanding Chart Types

Traders use three main chart types: line, bar, and candlesticks. When dealing with currency pairs like the Australian Dollar vs the Japanese Yen or any other trading instrument, charts show price movement, which helps predict where market prices might go.

1. Line Chart

A line chart is like the ABCs of trading charts. It keeps things simple by showing only the closing price over some time. Think of it as connecting the dots with closing prices. You won’t see highs and lows or opening and closing prices here; it’s just a straightforward line showing how prices move.

2. Bar Chart

Unlike the line chart, the bar chart will give you more details. Instead of just one line, you’ve got vertical bars. Each bar shows the trading range: the highs, lows, and opening and closing prices.

If the left side of the bar (the opening price) is lower than the right side (the closing price), it is usually shaded in green, black, or blue and indicates that the price went up. And if it’s the other way around, with the closing price lower, you’ll see it in red, signaling a price drop.

3. Candlesticks

Candlesticks are popular among the different charts. It has a body and tails or wicks that indicate price movement over a specific time frame. Because of the design, they give signals that help spot trends and interpret charts. The candle’s body uses colors to represent market changes. Green or white usually means the price closed above its opening, while red or black indicates the price closed below its opening.

Mastering Chart Interpretation

So, let’s dive into how to do graphical analysis so that you can understand trading charts easily. Generally, there are many different patterns that you can spot just by glancing at the trading chart. Surprisingly, these patterns are all about human psychology. People tend to react in similar ways to certain situations. That is why history often repeats itself in the markets.

When you see any pattern on the trading chart, it’s not a random loop. Instead, they’re codes that tell you where the trend might be headed. One of the classics is the Triangle- a chart pattern that looks like a triangle when the trendlines are drawn. It usually indicates continuation in market direction after a pause.

Then there’s the double top and double bottom. These are “two peaks” and “two valleys” of trading. A double top means the price hits two highs and might be getting ready to switch from going up to down. On the flip side, a double bottom means the price hits two lows, signaling a potential shift from going down to going up. These patterns help reveal trading opportunities.

Understanding Chart Timeframes

A trading chart shows an asset’s price over time. Most charts use a linear model where time moves in equal intervals. Remember, there are other options, like tick and volume charts. Tick charts show prices based on the number of transactions, while volume charts give you a peek at buying and selling interest.

Time charts are the most popular, coming in all sizes to suit different trading techniques. It can be in seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, day, weekly, or monthly. Ideally, longer timeframes are significant for a big-picture perspective, while shorter ones are perfect for quick trades. Whether you’re in it for the long haul or looking to make fast profits, there’s a chart timeframe that’s just right for you.

Key Concepts in Technical Analysis

To interpret chart patterns and accurately predict price movements, technical experts always rely on fundamental concepts and principles. The important ones are:

1. Support and Resistance

Have you ever noticed those spots on a chart where the price seems to hit a wall and bounce back? That’s what we call support and resistance levels. Support it’s where the price struggles to drop below the floor. On the other hand, resistance is where the price can’t seem to break through the ceiling. These levels are critical because they often signal when the price might change direction.

2. Trendlines

These are lines drawn over the highs or lows to show market direction. When the highs keep getting higher, and the lows keep getting higher, that’s an uptrend and considered bullish. On the contrary, a series of lower highs and lower lows shows a downtrend and is considered a bearish signal. You can use the trendlines to know the strength and direction of a particular trend.

3. Chart Patterns

Chart patterns are the ones you will notice in a trading chart. They can assume the shape of triangles, rectangles, and even head and shoulder formations. Traders mostly use chart patterns to learn what might happen next in the market. Spotting a chart pattern correctly will help you predict whether the market price will turn around or keep trucking in the same direction.

4. Indicators

The biggest score of technical analysis lies in the indicators. Moving averages, RSI, and MACD are all mathematical calculations that can help you make sense of price and volume data. They tell when the market might be getting too hot or too cold. In addition, it tells how strong a trend is and even when it might be a good time to buy or sell. Admittedly, once you use indicators, you’ll wonder how you ever traded without them.

Conclusion

Are you looking to incorporate technical analysis into your investment strategy? Understanding how to read charts is essential. It would be best to start by familiarising yourself with the different chart types and patterns. Pay attention to technical indicators because they give critical insights into market trends. Remember that technical analysis is just one strategy in the investor’s toolbox. So, use it in conjunction with other forms of analysis.

The momentum in tourism activities continued to flourish, with Thua Thien Hue province orchestrating the inauguration of the Hue-Da Nang tourist train, aptly named “Connecting Central Heritage.” This initiative unveiled a novel tourism experience, leaving a lasting impression on visitors exploring the region’s cultural gems.

However, despite the vibrant tourism sector, the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate for the province in the first quarter of 2024 fell short of expectations, registering at 4.28%. This figure lagged behind the 6.91% growth rate recorded in the corresponding period, positioning the province at the 9th spot out of 12 provinces/cities in the North Central and Central Coast region. The industry-construction sector experienced a modest increase of 2.32%, while the service sector surged by 6.03%, and the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors saw a marginal rise of 0.83%.

The token’s rise comes alongside a wave of trading volume.

A meme coin issued by cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has surged by more than 14,000% to a $31 million market cap hours after being released.

The ticker for the token, which was issued on Base network, is MOEW, and it is currently trading at $0.0028 on the back of $34 million worth of trading volume, CoinMarketCap data shows. 11,700 individual wallets currently hold MOEW, according to Basescan.

“Just for funsies, nothing too serious. We wanna see what the power of memes can do,” Bitget wrote on social media platform X.

Base is rapidly emerging as a leading venue for meme coin traders as it attempts to steal the thunder from Solana, which has been the primary blockchain for memes so far in this bull market cycle.

The largest meme coin on Base is Brett (BRETT), a token that is based on a character from Matt Furie’s Boy’s club comic. Brett has increased in value by 89% in the past week, while MOEW has already recorded double the volume Brett has racked up in the past 24 hours.

Meme coins are volatile assets by nature as they have no underlying value or utilities. Several meme coins like WIF have achieved a market cap of above $1 billion in the past year, while many others have petered out to zero amid a wave of rug pulls.
