Noi Bai and Da Nang in the world’s top 100 best airports

Advertisements

Vietnam’s two international airports, Noi Bai Airport and Da Nang Airport, have been voted as the best airports in the world for 2024 by the Skytrax organization.

The international organization Skytrax has just announced the rankings of airports worldwide for 2024. In this list, Vietnam has two airports honored: Noi Bai Airport and Da Nang Airport.

Da Nang Airport is in the top 100 best airports in the world for the first time

Notably, Da Nang International Airport appears for the first time, while Noi Bai International Airport ranks sixth in the “Top 100 Best Airports in the World.”

Skytrax’s rankings are based on the opinions of millions of passengers from over 100 countries on a range of specific criteria including service quality at international passenger terminals, convenience, comfort, language capabilities, and staff service attitude.

Significant measures to improve quality have been implemented at Noi Bai International Airport, such as coordinated operations and technology to handle the challenge of passenger numbers exceeding terminal design capacity.

Non-aviation businesses and taxi companies are required to commit to service quality and face strict penalties for violations, while maintaining channels to receive passenger feedback and evaluations.

Noi Bai Airport is in the top 100 best airports in the world for the 6th time

Noi Bai International Airport also organizes “Hanoi’s Essence Week” to showcase local culture and hosts spring activities for passengers during the Lunar New Year. Additional amenities such as phone charging stations, free Wi-Fi, children’s play areas, childcare zones, and accessible infrastructure for the disabled are ensured.

Similarly, Da Nang International Airport emphasizes promoting Vietnamese culture, investing in local-themed landscapes, and incorporating traditional elements into artistic performances such as the “Heritage Path” program.

Previously, on January 1, 2024, Da Nang International Airport’s passenger terminal became the first and only 5-star rated terminal in Vietnam according to Skytrax standards.

Skytrax highlighted amenities such as business class lounges, baby strollers, children’s play areas, mother and baby rooms, shopping carts, prayer rooms, self-check-in counters, self-baggage drop counters, automated immigration and departure gates.

Esim for travelling around the world

Advertisements

Nowadays, travelling is a huge part of modern man’s life. We travel for new experiences, for work, or just to unwind on a day off. With modern travel options, people can choose new destinations to explore and discover every day.

In the hustle and bustle of preparing for travelling, the question often arises, what about staying in touch with family and friends, keeping up with social media and keeping up to date with the latest news? Luckily, new technologies can help answer this question. You can connect a virtual SIM card to your smartphone. Today, we have selected a few options of the best esim for international travelling.

First of all, let’s find out what is Esim?

Esim is a sim card built into a smartphone. The key difference from a physical sim card is that it is permanently in your smartphone and cannot be removed. It is a chip that is soldered into the device. The principle of connecting esim is very simple: you need to install a specialized application on your smartphone. In this application you can independently choose the tariff and terms of use of the sim card, and you can also choose the country to which you are going to travel. You can also connect a virtual SIM card, which will be valid not in one country, but in a group of countries, on a continent or even worldwide?

Let’s take a look at a few virtual sim card options that allow you to keep in touch around the world:

  1. eSIM plus. One of the most popular esim connection services. With eSIM plus you can make and receive calls abroad, receive SMS messages, and connect to mobile internet. In eSIM plus, virtual numbers of more than 120 countries are available for purchase. The most expensive tariff with unlimited internet and the ability to communicate in any country from the list of 120 countries will cost you €200. As a bonus, eSIM plus has a handy application for managing your tariff, where you can decide your terms of use and add additional features to your tariff.
  2. Yesim. This is the second most popular service for connecting a virtual SIM card. With Yesim you can connect a SIM card for one country, for a group of countries, for a continent and even a SIM card that will be valid worldwide. In total, Yesim service is available in 136 countries around the world. However, please note that you will not be able to make calls with this virtual sim card. Only the mobile data connection option is included in the basic features of the tariff. The tariff prices vary depending on the days of sim card usage, number and set of countries and number of gigabytes of data. Esim for 5 days of use with 3 GB of data will cost you $8. A tariff that allows you to use esim in 136 countries costs from $27 to $77 depending on the number of days of use and the number of gigabytes of traffic.
  3. Airalo. Also, one of the most popular services that helps to connect a virtual sim card. Airalo provides services in more than 200 countries around the world. With Airalo, you can get a virtual sim card that will not only work in one particular country but also in a particular continent. However, with this application you will not be able to get such service as making calls, only the mobile internet feature is included in the basic package. The cost of the plans depends on the choice of country, content, or international sim card. The price is also affected by the number of included gigabytes of mobile internet and days of SIM card usage. For a sim card with the ability to communicate in all countries of the world, the cost varies from $9 to $89.

As you can see, there are a lot of options for connecting a virtual card. The applications listed above are not the only options for connecting an international virtual sim card. You can also look for other services that connect international virtual SIM cards.

To summarize, a virtual sim card is an innovative, cheap and easy to use option for connecting communication abroad. A virtual SIM card differs from a physical SIM card in that it is located inside the device and the necessary information about the SIM card is recorded on it. You can install up to five sim cards on one chip and use them freely in different countries of the world. A virtual sim card will help you make calls, send sms messages and use mobile internet at a minimal cost. This is a great option for those who travel a lot or for those who want to save money on connection abroad.

Bitcoin Miners Are Better Positioned for the Halving This Time Round: Benchmark

Advertisements

Bitcoin’s rally in the past six months will help cushion crypto miners from the effects of the 50% cut in their earned rewards, the report said.

Crypto miners are the group most affected by bitcoin’s (BTC) reward halving, and they are better positioned this time round due to the cryptocurrency’s gains in the past six months, broker Benchmark said in a research report on Thursday.

The largest cryptocurrency by market value rallied about 140% in the past two quarters, while ether (ETH), the second-largest, added 85%, CoinDesk Indices data show. The CoinDesk 20 Index, a measure of the broader crypto market, gained 115%.

The quadrennial event slows the rate of growth in bitcoin supply by 50% and is expected to occur late this evening or early tomorrow UTC.

Benchmark cited Haris Basit, the chief strategy officer of bitcoin miner Bitdeer Technologies (BTDR), who said the recent increase in the price of BTC could bail out many of the Bitcoin network’s less-efficient miners in the near-term.

Given bitcoin’s recent outperformance, the “role of the halving in driving the retirement of inefficient mining rigs and reducing the network hashrate would be much less dramatic than it would have been absent the rally,” Basit said at a Benchmark-hosted event.

“Most of the publicly traded bitcoin miners have initiated or announced plans to increase their electricity and hashrate capacities as a means of adjusting to their reduced revenue and gross profit profiles,” Benchmark analyst Mark Palmer wrote, noting that due to uncertainty around the halving nearly all of the listed miners’ stocks are down year-to-date despite a 46% rally in bitcoin in the same period.

“The impact of the halving on bitcoin miners’ economics could be more offset over time if history repeats and a strong rally in the price of the cryptocurrency occurs during the months following the event,” Palmer wrote.

The broker noted that a potential increase in network fees could also help to mitigate the impact of reduced block rewards.

The halving’s effect on the cryptocurrency’s price “could be magnified by the concurrent demand shock created by the emergence of spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) following their approval in the U.S. in January,” the report said. “We expect the inflows into spot bitcoin ETFs to grow dramatically once institutions begin to invest in them in earnest.”

Bitcoin Spot ETFs Register Five-Day Withdrawals Streak Ahead of Halving

Advertisements

GBTC again led the outflows, while inflows into BlackRock’s IBIT continued to slow, provision data from Farside show.

The U.S.-based spot bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) registered cumulative outflows of $4.3 million on Thursday, extending the four-day run of withdrawals ahead of the supposedly bullish mining reward halving.

Since April 12, the ETFs have witnessed a total net outflow of over $319 million, with Grayscale’s GBTC accounting for a large share of the withdrawals, provisional data published by Farside Investors showed.

For instance, on Thursday, GBTC alone saw a significant loss of $90 million in outflows, which was partially offset by inflows into Fidelity’s FBTC and BlackRock’s IBIT.

The Grayscale ETF has been losing money since day one for several reasons, including the fund’s relatively costly fee structure. So, GBTC outflows may not be a cause for concern, but the recent slower inflows into other ETFs might be.

BlackRock’s IBIT attracted just $18.8 million on Thursday, down 93% from the monthly high of $308.8 million on April 5.

“Key liquidity drivers, such as stablecoin growth and US-listed Bitcoin ETF inflows, have slowed down – as we have mentioned for several weeks. ETF flows peaked on March 12, and four consecutive days of net outflows have recently been seen. Demand for US-listed Bitcoin ETFs appears saturated, as even a 10-15% decline in Bitcoin prices has not increased net inflows,” Matrixport said in a market update early Friday.

Bitcoin changed hands at $64,700 at press time, down over 13% from the record highs above $73,500 last month, CoinDesk data show.

The pullback could be attributed to several factors, including U.S. tax payments, the dwindling probability of the Fed rate cuts, and Iran-Israel tensions.

“The geopolitical risk in the Middle East could have been a qualified event to allocate into Bitcoin, but prices traded lower instead of up. This was a real test in cementing Bitcoin as a risk-off asset—unfortunately, Bitcoin somewhat failed as its price stagnated and sold off,” Matrixport added.

Late Friday, Bitcoin’s blockchain is set to halve per block coin emission to 3.125 BTC from 6.25 BTC, reducing the pace of supply expansion by 50%. Historically, halvings have presaged major rallies, though the magnitude and duration of uptrends have not been consistent.

The consensus in the crypto community is that the impending halving will put cryptocurrency on a long-term bullish path. However, several observers, including Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, have suggested otherwise, with the later signaling the potential for deeper price correction after the halving.

Binance Could Come Back to India by Paying $2M Fine: Report

Advertisements

The exchange could return as a FIU-registered firm after paying the fine, the report added.

Binance, the cryptocurrency exchange that was removed from India some months ago, is looking to re-enter India by paying a $2 million fine, the Economic Times reported on Thursday.

Earlier this year, Binance and some other exchanges were removed from the Apple Store in India after India’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) sent them compliance show cause notices.

OKX, KuCoin, Huobi, Kraken, Gate.io, Bittrex, Bitstamp, MEXC Global and Bitfinex were the other firms that were sent notices at the time.

After paying the fine, Binance will return to the country as an FIU-registered firm, the ET report added, citing people aware of the developments.

It is “unfortunate that it took (Binance) more than two years to realize there is no room for negotiations, and (that) no global powerhouse can command special treatment, especially at the cost of exposing the country’s financial system to vulnerabilities,” the report said, citing a source.

Bitcoin Dominance Increases as Halving Nears and BTC Price Lingers Near $61K

Advertisements

BTC dominance is creeping upwards as Layer-1s and Artificial Intelligence tokens had a rough week, while Google search interest in the halving skyrockets.

Bitcoin (BTC) has become more dominant in the crypto market thanks to impending halving and broader market risk aversion, despite the price correction

The largest cryptocurrency by market value was trading below $61,400 during Asian trading hours on Thursday, according to CoinDesk Indices data, as the sell-off in risk assets, fueled by difficult macroeconomic conditions, rages.

The CoinDesk 20, a measure of the world’s most liquid digital assets, is down 3.3%, trading at 2,125.

While bitcoin might be having a challenging moment, layer-1s and altcoins are doing worse. Top layer-1 tokens like Solana’s (SOL) are down over 20% in the past week. Avalanche’s (AVAX) is down 26%, Cardano’s (ADA) is down 23%, and Filecoin (FIL) is down 30%.

The bloodbath in Artificial Intelligence tokens, once the darling of the market, continued with some of the largest AI tokens down double digits during the last week. Render’s RNDR is down 13%, and Fetch.AI’s FET token is down 24%.

All this has led to bitcoin dominance moving up. Bitcoin dominance helps traders gauge the market mood and the token’s influence on altcoin trends. Bitcoin dominance is currently at 55.19%, up around 1.35% in the last week or 2.5% in the last month.

Meanwhile, in the run-up to the halving, Google search interest in the halving is hitting all-time highs, far surpassing search interest in the 2020 halving.

According to Google search trends data, there has been more search interest in the halving than in Ethereum, solana, or dogecoin.

Vietnam Airlines adjusts flight routes through the Middle East

Adjusting flight paths will extend the flight time by about 15 minutes between Vietnam and Europe, and will also generate additional operating costs for Vietnam Airlines.

A representative from Vietnam Airlines stated that they have been actively monitoring and redirecting flights between Vietnam and Europe to steer clear of potentially affected areas ahead of the escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Consequently, regular flight routes to Europe from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, to Paris (France), Frankfurt (Germany), and London (UK) will be adjusted to avoid areas of impact. This flight path adjustment will result in approximately 15 minutes of additional flight time between Vietnam and Europe, along with additional operating costs for the airline.

However, to ensure the number one priority of safety for passengers and crew, Vietnam Airlines will maintain these adjusted flight paths until the situation of tension is resolved.

Following Iran’s drone and missile attack on Israel on the night of April 13, many airlines worldwide have ceased flights over this hotspot.

Germany’s national carrier Lufthansa Airlines has extended the suspension of flights to and from the capital Tehran (Iran), and will not fly into Iranian airspace until April 18. Austrian Airlines has similarly announced the suspension of flights to Tehran until April 18.

Lufthansa Airlines and Austrian Airlines are Western carriers with direct flights to Tehran.

According to Reuters, Kuwait Airways of Kuwait has announced the rerouting of all flights to and from the Middle East tension zone.

United Airlines of the United States issued a notice of cancellation for the flight from Newark (New Jersey) to Tel Aviv (Israel) on April 13 (local time) due to the unrest in Israeli airspace.

Australia’s national carrier Qantas has also adjusted flight paths for flights between Perth (Australia) and London (UK) due to security concerns when flying over the Middle East, as reported by The Telegraph.

U.S. Senators Lummis, Gillibrand Take on Stablecoin Legislation With New Bill

Advertisements

Senators Cynthia Lummis and Kirsten Gillibrand unveiled a new bill Wednesday, hoping to move the needle on stablecoin legislation.

U.S. Senators Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) are taking another swing at crypto-specific legislation, with a narrowly tailored bill seeking to define how stablecoins – cryptocurrencies that maintain value with some other asset or currency – will operate in the U.S.

The lawmakers unveiled a new stablecoin bill Wednesday in the latest effort to create legislation directly addressing this corner of the crypto market. Under their proposed bill, payment stablecoin issuers would have reserve and operational requirements, including needing to create subsidiaries specifically to issue stablecoins. The bill would also require stablecoin issuers to deal in dollar-backed tokens.

A payment stablecoin, as defined by the bill, would be any dollar-pegged digital asset “that is, or is designed to be, used as a means of payment or settlement.” Issuers would be “obligated” to convert to dollars, and the asset itself won’t be a security. Issuers would either have to be non-depository trust companies registered with the Federal Reserve Board of Governors or a depository institution “authorized as a national payment stablecoin issuer.” Both state and federal regulators would have roles overseeing these entities.

Stablecoin issuers would also be required to ensure their tokens are fully backed by reserve assets and disclose to the public what those assets are. They would also need to tap a non-depository trust as a custodian, and the trust will be required to use a depository institution as a sub-custodian, according to the bill.

The bill also appears to ban algorithmic stablecoins, which are typically undercollateralized tokens designed to maintain their value through algorithmic mechanisms.

In a statement, Gillibrand said a regulatory framework for stablecoins “is absolutely critical to maintaining the U.S. dollar’s dominance,” and the proposed bill would keep the existing dual banking system intact.

“It protects consumers by mandating one-to-one reserves, prohibiting algorithmic stablecoins, and requiring stablecoin issuers to comply with U.S. anti-money laundering and sanctions rules,” she said. “To draft the strongest bill possible, our offices worked closely with the relevant federal and state agencies and I’m confident this legislation can earn the necessary support in the Senate and the House.”

Her counterpart, Lummis, said the bill also meets “the growing demand for our ever-evolving financial industry” in a statement, echoing Gillibrand’s point on the dual banking system and the dollar’s dominance.

The bill created a $10 billion limit for non-depository trust institutions to be able to issue payment stablecoins. Once the issuer exceeds that amount, it must be “a depository institution that has been authorized as a national payment stablecoin issuer,” the bill’s text said. At present, the largest U.S.-based stablecoin issuer, Circle (with $33 billion in outstanding (USDC)), is not a depository trust institution. The next largest, Paxos, does have a limited purpose trust charter through the New York Department of Financial Services, though its market cap falls well below that $10 billion cutoff. A Senate staffer described the $10 billion limit as the approximate cutoff between a small community bank and a larger regional financial institution with systemic risk potential.

Lummis and Gillibrand have jointly introduced a number of bills addressing the digital assets market, including a bill last summer that would create legal definitions for decentralized finance and draw lines for where federal agencies like the Commodity Futures Trading Commission have jurisdiction over crypto. While these bills have not gone anywhere, a Senate staffer told reporters on Tuesday that the lawmakers had sought feedback from federal regulators and the White House.

Stablecoin legislation has long been seen as the type of crypto-specific legislation most likely to become law in the U.S., though progress has been slow. House Financial Services Chair Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) and Ranking Member Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) have worked on stablecoin legislation for years. A bill advanced out of committee last year, but progress stopped after then-Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy was ousted.

Last week, Punchbowl News reported that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) met with McHenry and Waters to discuss potentially attaching stablecoin legislation to a bill reauthorizing the Federal Aviation Administration, seen as a must-pass piece of legislation. On Tuesday, Sen. Sherrod Brown, who chairs the Senate Banking Committee, signaled stablecoin legislation could advance if it included certain specific safeguards.
