Representatives of Tan Son Nhat International Airport state that the significant increase in passengers during the Tet Lunar New Year will continue to overload Tan Son Nhat Airport.

During a regular economic and social press conference in Ho Chi Minh City on January 25, Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Deputy CEO of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, mentioned that during the Tet Giap Thin 2024 holiday, the airport is expected to handle 850-880 flights per day.

On the peak day, the 27th of the lunar month Chạp, there will be more than 920 flights with over 150,000 passengers departing and arriving, marking a 9-10% increase compared to Tet 2023.

According to Mr. Son, the sharp rise in passenger numbers has led to the continued overload of Tan Son Nhat Airport. Initially designed to handle a maximum of 15 million passengers per year, it is now accommodating 26 million passengers.

“In light of the ongoing increase in passenger volume during recent peak periods and to meet the travel needs of the people, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has held numerous meetings with relevant agencies and units to propose optimal solutions to meet public demand,” Mr. Son stated.

The representatives of Tan Son Nhat International Airport mentioned that from February 1 to February 21, the Civil Aviation Authority will make a decision to increase slot allocations. Additionally, the aviation industry is making efforts to enhance the fleet of aircraft, especially during the night, while also increasing staff and service quality to meet the travel demand during the Tet holiday.

Furthermore, the unit will review operational procedures, traffic flow, and allocate human resources reasonably before and after Tet Lunar New Year. Notably, all service providers outside aviation are required to publicly disclose their non-listed prices.

According to Mr. Son, all constructions in the terminal, apron, and the connecting transportation area between the airport and the city have been completed, ready to serve during the Tet peak period. The T3 terminal is also in the final stages of completion to serve the public soon.

Traders have scaled back bets of aggressive rate cuts by the Federal Reserve ahead of the U.S. GDP report.

The data is expected to show the world’s largest economy’s GDP at a 2% seasonally adjusted annualized pace in the final three months of 2023, retreating from the 4.9% in Q3 and the lowest reading since the second quarter of 2022, according to CNBC.

Focus on expiry

On Friday at 08:00 UTC, bitcoin options worth $3.75 billion and ether options worth $2.07 billion will expire on Deribit, the world’s largest crypto options exchange, accounting for over 85% of the global activity.

“As we approach tomorrow’s options expiry, it’s clear the market is steadily recovering from the initial shocks of the ETF introduction and GBTC unwind. Notably, call-put skew has been increasing from an earlier low, indicating a shift in market sentiment,” Lukk Strijers, Chief Commerical Officer at Deribit, said.

Ninh Binh launches events to celebrate Trang An’s 10th anniversary as a world heritage

The inheritance of the Missouri spirit

Powell is one of the American journalists who came to China at the beginning of the last century. He has long served as the editor-in-chief of the “Millard’s Review” and is also a representative figure of the “Missouri Mafia”. Powell is the pioneer of the “Missouri Mafia”. In 1942, after Powell returned to the United States as one of the first prisoners of war exchanged between the United States and Japan, his son John Powell had just graduated from the University of Missouri and was immediately recruited by the U.S. Wartime Intelligence Agency to engage in intelligence work in the war-torn Chongqing, China.

A few months later, Powell came to Shanghai to take over an English magazine Millard’s Review left by his father. Millard’s Review was the main window for Western readers to understand China at that time. As the editor-in-chief, his father was different from what he imagined. He faithfully recorded and reflected to the Western society the profound crimes committed by the Japanese invaders against China, which deeply changed Powell’s life.

On the evening of January 27, 1952, several American planes circled over Jingok-ri, Cheorwon County for several times and then flew away. Just over half a month after this, 8 cases of insects thrown by the US military were discovered at the Volunteer Army garrison. The highest insect density reached 600 per square meter. Subsequently, the U.S. military’s deployment range expanded to 7 islands and 44 counties in northern North Korea, and even Northeast China.

The Scientific Committee composed of scientists from six countries of the World Peace Council concluded after more than two months of demonstration that the Korean battlefield has become a target of bacterial weapons. After Powell, who was running a newspaper in Shanghai, learned of the incident, he conducted many interviews and investigations, and finally wrote an article in the Millard’s Review, exposing the US military’s crimes of using germ warfare weapons to overseas readers, causing an uproar in international public opinion.

Subsequently, the U.S. Postal Service banned Millard’s Review from entering the country, and the Japanese and British governments also blacklisted it. The Millard’s Review cannot be distributed overseas, cutting off Powell’s financial resources. In June 1953, Millard’s Review was forced to go bankrupt and cease publication, and the Powells were forced to return to the United States from Shanghai. However, what the Powells did not expect was that they had become key personnel of the US intelligence agencies.

In early 1954, several plainclothes men broke into Powell’s home. In September and December of the same year, the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Internal Security (SISS) subpoenaed Powell twice to collect evidence. Their purpose was to induce Powell to overturn previous reports that the US military was engaging in germ warfare and restore the United States’ international reputation.

However, Powell insisted that his report was absolutely true.

On April 25, 1956, the U.S. government formally charged the Powells with “sedition.” At that time, the U.S. Department of Justice only needed to prove that the news the Powells published about the U.S. military’s germ warfare during the Korean War was “rumors and false information” to make them unable to stand up. Powell’s lawyer Willing applied to the court to invite relevant personnel from the U.S. Department of Defense, the CIA, the National Security Agency, and relevant congressional committees to testify and provide documents related to U.S. germ warfare. The Pentagon refused to produce any information and did not allow anyone to testify.

Ultimately, Powell’s case was dropped and the jury was dismissed because prosecutors could not present sufficient evidence.

This persecution not only did not stop Powell, but prompted him to search for the full truth about germ warfare. Among the more than 9,000 Allied General Command documents declassified by the U.S. National Archives, Powell found more than 50 secret documents between the U.S. government and Allied General Command surrounding the issue of Unit 731.

In October 1980, Powell published a long report “A Hidden History” in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, revealing how Shiro Ishii, the leader of Japan’s Unit 731, evaded trial and his secret relationship with the US military’s germ warfare in North Korea. John Powell hopes to use this report to draw public attention to U.S. biological weapons research.

The lives of the Powell family are intertwined with glory and suffering. They carry dreams and sufferings and inherit the journalistic character of outstanding journalists. The statistics on Agoda bookings reveal the preferred travel destinations for Vietnamese people during the Tet Nguyen Dan (Lunar New Year) holiday in 2024.

According to Agoda’s data released on January 23, Vietnam has secured a spot in the top 5 leading destinations for travelers seeking holiday destinations for the upcoming Tet Nguyen Dan across the Asia-Pacific region. Among these destinations, South Korean tourists top the list of visitors to Vietnam during this traditional festival.

The ranking is based on the number of room bookings made on Agoda from January 1 to 15, with check-in dates on February 9 or 10 (corresponding to the 30th or 1st day of Tet) and a minimum stay of 2 nights.

In the top 5 destinations in the region, alongside Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia are also prominently featured. South Korean tourists lead the international visitors to Vietnam during Tet Nguyen Dan, surpassing tourists from China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan. This is expected to contribute to a vibrant Tet season for Vietnam’s tourism industry. Recently, residents and tourists visiting the city of Da Nang have been captivated by the unique architecture of the pedestrian bridge spanning across Nguyen Tat Thanh coastal road in Lien Chieu district.

This bridge, invested by the Mikazuki Group from Japan, connects the Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resorts & Spa area to the coastal region. The bridge was inaugurated to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, earning it the nickname “Friendship Bridge.”

The Vietnam-Japan Friendship Bridge stands nearly 13 meters tall, stretching over 140 meters, with a floor area of approximately 665 square meters. Designed in the Japanese architectural style, the ascent to the bridge is portrayed like a knot in the art of Japanese rope weaving, symbolizing the strong and enduring diplomatic relationship between the two countries. Another highlight of the bridge is the two observation decks designed for visitors to capture memorable “check-in” moments.

Nguyen Hue Flower Street to open its doors to visitors for 8 days

With the theme “Spring of Love, Tet of Togetherness,” Nguyen Hue Flower Street for the Lunar New Year 2024 will open its doors to serve the public and tourists for 8 days, from February 7 to February 14.

On the afternoon of January 23, Saigon Tourist Corporation (Saigontourist Group) announced the new features of the Nguyen Hue Flower Street for the 2024 Tet.

Specifically, this year’s Flower Street has the theme “Spring of Love, Tet of Togetherness” and will be open to the public and tourists from February 7 to February 14. The construction period will take place from January 21 to February 7.

The layout of Nguyen Hue Flower Street is divided into three sections. The opening segment is called “Roots of the Homeland,” followed by the climax “Crossing the River,” and the finale is “Integration and Growth.” The dominant color scheme consists of red, orange, and yellow, crystallized from 99 types of flowers.

During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Dong Hoa, Deputy General Director of Saigontourist Group, Deputy Head of the organizing committee, mentioned one of the highlights of the 2024 Tet Flower Street is the creativity in connecting the image of the pedestrian street with the imagery of the nine branches of the Mekong River flowing into the sea.

The organizing committee also revealed other notable points of the flower street. Three dragon mascots at the main gate scene (Nguyen Hue – Le Loi intersection) and the ending gate scene (Nguyen Hue – Ton Duc Thang intersection) have a length of over 100m, setting a record for the size of zodiac signs, surpassing the Year of the Dragon in 2012 and the Year of the Tiger in 2022. The dragon mascots are crafted from environmentally friendly materials, with over 90% being shaped steel and a system of mesh fins covering the entire body to simulate scales.

For the first time, the 2024 Tet Flower Street features nine golden apricot trees created by Vietnamese artisans. These trees range from 1 to 3.6m in height, with names like Great Fortune Apricot, Vietnamese Dragon Apricot, Spring School Peach, Lucky Peach Blossom, and Bodhi Great Cat.

Additionally, visitors exploring the flower street this year will have the opportunity to experience augmented reality (AR) technology, allowing them to observe and take photos. This application is implemented at the three main scenes of flower street: the “Twin Dragons Guarding the Dynasty,” the “Spring Flower Boat,” and the “Supreme Thang Long Gate.”

Ho Chi Minh City plans to pilot 200 electric vehicles to serve tourists

The pilot project of electric passenger transport in Ho Chi Minh City will be implemented from the first quarter of 2024 until the end of 2025. Electric vehicles will operate within limited areas on selected routes in districts 1, 4, 5, and 6.

Information from the Department of Transport indicates that the agency has recently submitted to the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee for approval a pilot project using four-wheeled electric vehicles for sightseeing and tourism transportation. The plan is expected to be implemented from the first quarter of 2024 to the end of 2025.

The parking area to serve tourists at 23 September Park will be operational from 6 am to 12 am daily. The maximum number of electric vehicles operating during the pilot phase is 200 four-wheeled vehicles with seating capacities ranging from 5 to 14 passengers. Drivers must hold a driver’s license from category B2 and above and undergo training according to the regulations of the Ministry of Transport.

According to the project, electric vehicles will operate within limited areas on specified routes in districts 1, 4, 5, and 6.

The district 1 – district 4 area includes routes such as Nha Rong Wharf – Khanh Hoi Bridge – Ton Duc Thang – Nguyen Binh Khiem – Nguyen Thi Minh Khai – Hoang Sa – Hai Ba Trung – Nguyen Thi Minh Khai – Nguyen Van Cu – Vo Van Kiet – Calmette Bridge – Doan Van Bo – Hoang Dieu – Nguyen Tat Thanh – Nha Rong Wharf.

In the district 5 – district 6 area, there are routes such as Nguyen Van Cu – Nguyen Trai – Nguyen Tri Phuong – Hung Vuong – Hong Bang – Nguyen Thi Nho – Le Quang Sung – Pham Dinh Ho – Thap Muoi – Hai Thuong Lan Ong – Vo Van Kiet – Nguyen Van Cu.

The operating company is Saigon Public Transport Limited Liability Company, responsible for providing and updating the list of electric vehicles participating in the pilot program on the project’s management software system.

As per the operating company’s proposal, the fare per trip ranges from 10,000 VND to 50,000 VND per person, and the rental price for the entire vehicle is between 70,000 VND and 250,000 VND per trip.

Donald Trump-Labeled Wallet Has Over $1M of TRUMP Meme Coin

Issuance of the TRUMP tokens has nothing to do with Trump directly, but some are using the tokens as a speculative bet on his ongoing presidential campaign.

A few thousand dollars worth of a meme token TRUMP sent to a Donald Trump-labeled crypto wallet is now worth over $1 million, data tracked by Arkham shows.

Issuance of the TRUMP token has nothing to do with the former U.S. President directly, but some are using the tokens as a speculative bet on his ongoing presidential campaign.

The tokens were issued in August, and Trump’s wallet originally received $7,100 of TRUMP from the meme coin’s developers between August and October 2023. Sending tokens to a popular entity’s wallet is sometimes used as a marketing strategy by meme coin makers, as they can attract eyeballs – and buying interest.

Prices remained largely unchanged until months after their issuance. However, Trump’s recent victories in the primaries have put him back on track as a Presidential contender in the 2024 elections, and sent these speculative tokens surging to over $2 on Wednesday from 19 cents in November.

The tokens have a market capitalization of over $85 million on Wednesday, data shows. There are several other Trump-themed meme tokens on the market across different blockchains. However, only one set of these has garnered a sizeable community.

Meanwhile, the value of Trump’s wallet has shot up to $2.5 million. It holds $750,000 each in ether (ETH) and wrapped ether WETH, and tiny amounts of several other tokens, most of which were likely sent to the wallet unsolicited.

The wallet held over $4 million at its peak. In December, a tranche of $2.5 million in ether was moved to crypto exchange Coinbase (COIN), all of which were generated from royalty payments from the official Trump NFT collection.
