The Aviation Authority has just decided to further adjust the slot coordination parameters for the second time at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
Specifically, the agency will adjust and increase the slot coordination parameters for takeoff and landing at Tan Son Nhat during daytime hours (6 am to 11:55 pm) from 44 slots per hour to 46 slots per hour, and during nighttime hours (12 am to 5:55 am) from 40 slots per hour to 42 slots per hour, from February 1st to February 21st (corresponding to January 22nd to the end of the Lunar New Year).
This decision is made based on the assessment of the transportation demand of Vietnamese airlines and the service capacity of units to meet the increasing travel demand of the people during the peak Tet holiday season in 2024.
The additional slots will be allocated to routes with high booking rates, prioritizing immediate supply enhancement, such as from Ho Chi Minh City to Pleiku/Quy Nhon/Chu Lai/Buon Me Thuot/Hue/Tuy Hoa/Thanh Hoa/Da Nang/Quang Binh/Hai Phong/Vinh.
With the increase in coordination parameters, Vietnamese airlines will be confirmed an additional 48 slots per day, equivalent to about 10,000 seats per day to supplement the mentioned routes.
“This contributes to preventing the situation where people are delayed in returning home for Tet due to a lack of transportation as directed by the Prime Minister,” the Civil Aviation Authority stated.
The management agency also requests airlines to review their operational plans, continue to optimize slot allocation, increase flights during nighttime hours, manage and operate flights on time, and minimize delays and cancellations during the upcoming Tet peak season in 2024.

According to the People’s Committee of Phan Thiet City, installing road signs with QR codes is one of the components of the smart city development plan for the city.
Implemented since late 2023, currently, Phan Thiet City currently has approximately 70 roads with QR codes on road signs. As part of the plan, in 2024, the city will continue to add and replace nameplates for the remaining roads in the area, ensuring that 100% of road signs will have QR codes.

Leaders of the People’s Committee of Phan Thiet City stated that implementing QR codes on road signs not only provides convenient information for residents and tourists but also serves as a highlight for the city in line with the trend of digital transformation.
On the new road signs, in addition to the road name, there is also the city’s logo in the bottom left corner and a QR code in the bottom right corner for people to access additional information about the respective road.

When scanning this QR code, residents and tourists can not only learn more about the significance of events and the biographies of notable figures associated with the road but also obtain information about the road’s scale (length, width, road class, starting and ending points, etc.), local traditions, public works, scenic spots, historical and cultural landmarks linked to the overall development and history of the hometown in general, and Phan Thiet City in particular.
Mr. Nguyen Nam Long, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Phan Thiet City, mentioned that since the implementation of QR codes on road signs, the city has publicly shared information on various public information systems to make it convenient for residents and tourists. Despite being introduced only about a month ago, initial feedback indicates positive responses from both residents and tourists.
To meet the demands of passengers during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, and VASCO are continuing to add more than 66,200 seats, equivalent to over 310 domestic flights during the peak Tet period from January 25 to February 24, 2024.
This additional round of flights brings the total number of domestic and international flights across the airlines during the Tet peak to approximately 2.64 million seats, equivalent to 12,374 flights.

The additional flights are primarily focused on domestic routes between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Quy Nhon, Hue, Quang Nam, Tuy Hoa, Da Lat, Cam Ranh, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku, and Phu Quoc. These flights aim to meet the needs of family reunions and satisfy the travel demand during the Tet holiday.
During the peak Tet period, due to increased travel demand, airlines recommend that passengers proactively plan their flight ticket purchases in advance.
Additionally, passengers are advised to complete the check-in process online, through mobile applications, the hotline 1900 6265 (telephone check-in), or at self-service kiosks. Passengers should arrive at the airport 2 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international flights’ scheduled departure times.
Developers said the missed finalization was likely due to an expected lack of participation and older network validators.
Ethereum’s much-awaited Dencun upgrade went live on the Goerli testnet earlier Wednesday but failed to finalize in the expected time.
The upgrade was pushed at 6:32 UTC, blockchain data shows, but did not reach consensus and was not finalized on the testnet. Developers expect the apparent issues to be fixed in the coming days. These likely occurred due to low participation and validators not upgrading parts of their software that would have helped with finalization.
Finality refers to irreversibility once a transaction has been confirmed and added to a block in a blockchain network. A testnet is a network that mimics real-world blockchains and is used to test applications and important upgrades before they can be pushed live on a mainnet.
Dencun’s implementation of Goerli is part of a three-phased approach to eventually enacting a new, less costly method of storing data on the main Ethereum blockchain.
That method, “proto-danksharding,” is a mechanism that will add capacity for data availability as well as help reduce the cost of transactions for layer-2 blockchains. These auxiliary networks have proliferated in the past year as an alternative to processing transactions on the main Ethereum blockchain, but analysts say their growth is hampered by the steep data costs under the current setup.
The next phase will happen sometime in the next few weeks, with an upgrade to the Sepolia testnet, followed by the Holesky testnet.
Dencun will be the biggest upgrade – technically a “hard fork” in blockchain terminology – for Ethereum since the Shapella upgrade last March, which enabled the withdrawals of staked ether stETH. That milestone marked the second step for Ethereum’s transition to a proof-of-stake blockchain, away from the more energy intensive proof-of-work chain that it was before the Merge.
Some have forecasted sharp declines in bitcoin’s price as traders ‘sell the news’ post-ETF approval, but Fidelity’s Director of Global Macro disagrees.
Bitcoin (BTC) is down almost 7% in the last week, as the market impact of the recently approved BTC ETF works its way through the system. While many contrarian bets about the price of bitcoin after the ETF approval have been proven right, Fidelity’s Jurrien Timmer doesn’t expect the sell-off to continue much longer.
In a thread on X, Timer, Fidelity’s Director of Global Macro, said current trends in bitcoin’s price are suggestive of a short-term positioning adjustment rather than a long-term trend reversal.
While some have forecasted that bitcoin might drop and find support anywhere between the $32K to $38K mark, Timmer expects consolidation of recent gains.
“The short-term question is whether this a sell-the-news moment. My guess is that it will take a little time to consolidate the recent gains, now that the big moment has arrived,” Timmer posted on X. “There were more than a few participants who ‘equitized’ future spot positions through either the futures market or bitcoin-sensitive equities.”
Per Trimmer, bitcoin’s current price is reasonable and is affected by how much its network is growing and the actual interest rates in the economy and the longer-term prospects look bright.
“”Will this be a new chapter towards Bitcoin’s widespread adoption as a commodity-currency?” Timmer posted. “It seems that way, although it could take some time to get there.”
While the rally has stalled, many asset managers, according to Timer, continue to have a significant net long position in the bitcoin futures market.
Meanwhile, CoinDesk recently reported that for the first time ever, Bitcoin’s 50-week simple moving average has crossed above its 200-week average.
This event is known as a “golden cross,” which suggests a long-term bullish market, although its predictive accuracy is debated among traders.
On January 16, the People’s Committee of Thu Duc City in HCMC announced that they would be piloting the Thao Dien Night Street model. This nightlife area will be operational every Friday and Saturday evening, from 7:00 p.m. the previous day until 2:00 a.m.
The Thao Dien Night Street is located on a 465 m-long stretch of Xuan Thuy Street and will open on January 19. The area is unique because it is home to many foreigners and children with foreign parents. The opening of a 2024 Spring Festival market and night street is essential and will be welcomed by the people of Thao Dien ward.
Thao Dien Night Street will help promote the Vietnamese Tet space by providing places for entertainment and folk activities that are modern and enjoyable. The nightlife area will be divided into multiple zones, including food and shopping areas, as well as cultural and artistic activities such as music performances to welcome the spring of 2024. The music performances will vary according to different themes throughout the pilot period and will include amateur music, jazz, and rock music performances.
The pilot program for Thao Dien Night Street will run for six months, from January 19 to July 19. After this period, the needs of tourists and residents will be evaluated, and any necessary adjustments will be made to increase operational efficiency. The expected budget for piloting the Thao Dien Night Street is over 1.2 billion VND, which will be contributed by businesses and business households along the route, as well as in the ward participating in the implementation.
The integration allows developers to build cross-chain use cases via Chainlink’s CCIP that involve multichain transfers of Circle’s USDC stablecoin.
Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) has integrated Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) to make it easy for users to transfer USDC across chains, according to a press release.
Developers can now build cross-chain use cases via CCIP that involve cross-chain transfers of USDC, including payments and other DeFi interactions, the statement said.
“We’re excited to support the adoption of stablecoins across a variety of cross-chain use cases. I’m pleased to see that the defense-in-depth security infrastructure of CCIP, with multiple layers of decentralization, is something highly valued by developers building with USDC,” said Sergey Nazarov, the decentralized oracle network’s co-founder.
The chains included in the integration are Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche and Base mainnets, with others to be added in the near future.
Chainlink’s CCIP is a cross-chain communication software that allows users to message and transfer tokens across different blockchains. Circle’s CCTP is an on-chain platform facilitating USDC transfers between chains via burning and minting.
