Manta Pacific Replaces Base as Fourth Largest Scaling Solution: L2Beat

Advertisements

Manta Pacific is the native layer 2 of the Manta Network.

Manta Pacific, the native layer 2 of Manta Network, has replaced Coinbase’s (COIN) Base as the fourth largest scaling solution, according to data source L2Beat.

As of writing, the total value locked (TVL) on Manta Pacific stood at $845 million ahead of Base’s $753 million. Total value locked refers to the notional value of tokens deposited in a decentralized finance protocol. The metric is widely used to gauge the popularity of DeFi protocols.

Layer 2s are secondary blockchains built on top of the primary/native blockchain to reduce bottlenecks and improve speed. Last year, Manta Pacific made the move to become a zero-knowledge rollup.

Zero-knowledge rollup is a secondary network that relies on zero-knowledge proofs, a type of cryptography that has become one of 2023’s hottest blockchain trends, partly due to the technology’s ability to provide fast “finality” or settlement of transactions.

L2Beat’s TVL sums the dollar value of tokens canonically bridged, externally bridged, and natively minted, while DeFiLlama, the other prominent source, only considers assets actively engaged in decentralized applications. Per DeFiLlama, Manta and Base are contesting for the ninth spot, each boasting a TVL of around $420 million.

Manta’s paradigm bridging program, which went live in December, seems to have driven the rapid growth in the total value locked. Bridging means porting assets from one blockchain to another. The program offers users rewards for bridging ether (ETH) and USDC to the network.

The layer 2 is using a playbook similar to Ethereum layer 2 Blast, per Michael Nadeau, founder of the DeFi report. Ether and USDC ported to Manta earn a staking yield of 4% to 5%, with coins remaining locked for 69 days, with depositors eligible for future airdrop of MANTA token, Nadeau explained on X. Depositors also receive NFT box pieces and can re-stake the staked ETH on Eigen Layer.

Blast offered yield on assets bridged to its platform through liquid staking protocol Lido and lending protocol MakerDAO, with users earning rewards for referrals, which can be redeemed in future token airdrops.

On Monday, Binance announced Manta as the 44th project on the Binance Launchpool, allowing users to earn MANTA tokens by staking their BNB and FDUSD tokens. The crypto exchange will also list a bunch of Manta trading pairs on Jan. 18.

Toll collection for the highway connecting Noi Bai – Lao Cai to Sa Pa begins at 0:00 on January 16 at the collection station located at the beginning of the road leading to Mong Sen bridge (Trung Chai commune, Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province), while known as the highest viaduct in Vietnam.

The toll for the Noi Bai – Lao Cai expressway connecting to Sa Pa is set by the Lao Cai provincial People’s Committee. For vehicles with less than 12 seats, trucks with a load capacity of under 2 tons, and public transportation vehicles (buses), the toll is set at 25,000 VND per ticket per trip.

For the remaining four groups of vehicles carrying passengers or goods with more seats, larger load capacities, and dimensions, the toll rates through the toll station are higher, ranging from 35,000 to 120,000 VND per ticket per trip.

Toll price list for the highway connecting Noi Bai – Lao Cai to Sa Pa from January 16 according to regulations

These toll rates are proposed for the first 3 years after the completion of phase 1 of the project. It is anticipated that the rates will be adjusted once every 3 years, following the project contract regulations, without exceeding the maximum rate set by the Lao Cai provincial People’s Committee.

The mentioned toll rates already include a 10% VAT. From the start of toll collection until June 30, 2024, a 2% VAT reduction policy is applied according to the resolution of the National Assembly.

Therefore, with an 8% preferential tax rate, the applicable ticket prices for vehicles with less than 12 seats, trucks with a load capacity of under 2 tons, and public transportation buses will be 24,000 VND per trip. The ticket prices for the other four groups of vehicles will correspondingly decrease to between 34,000 and 117,000 VND per ticket per trip.

Top 5 Natural Ways To Boost Your Mood

Top 5 Natural Ways to Boost Your Mood

It’s estimated that a whopping 14.8 million adults in the U.S. suffer from anxiety, stress, and depression each year. Statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO) backs this up with an indication that about 970 million, which translates to 1 in 8 people, are dealing with a mental disorder.

We often take our mental health lightly, but it affects our overall health in a big way. Before you realize it, it quickly grows out of control, causing other mental and physical disorders that affect your well-being.

From insomnia, lack of concentration, fatigue, and depression, being out regularly exposes you to various issues. Treating it urgently is important for more productivity and a more satisfying life.

You can boost your mood naturally in different ways. If you don’t know where to start, we’ve done the work for you. Here are the top five natural ways to enhance your mood:

1.Add Natural Supplements to Your Routine

Including certain supplements and herbs in your routine can help uplift you whenever you feel sluggish. These powerful herbs and spices are packed with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that stimulate the production of dopamine.

Dopamine is the happy hormone regarded as a mood enhancer. It also improves motivation and focus, allowing you to carry on with your activities like learning.

Under normal body functioning, the nervous system controls dopamine production, but life stressors can cause its decline. Consequently, this means decreased motivation, even for things one normally enjoys.

Thankfully, natural supplements like kratom can help. Just be sure you buy kratom from a trustworthy source for maximum effects. Other key supplements and ingredients with energizing and uplifting properties include Vitamin B12, lavender, ginseng, ashwagandha, and rose.

2.Lead a Healthy Lifestyle for Improving Mood

With today’s busy lifestyle, it’s easy to lose important practices that help cultivate a positive mood. Most people spend a huge part of their time working, leading to an imbalance that is detrimental to your mental health.

To lead a balanced lifestyle, incorporate activities like exercising, eating healthy foods, getting adequate sleep, and spending time outdoors. Exercising triggers an increase of norepinephrine chemicals in your brain, which eases stress. The satisfaction from accomplishing various exercises also boosts the production of the feel-good hormone serotonin, improving mood.

Eating healthy foods for your brain and gut can enhance your mood. This includes probiotics like yogurt, whole grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables, and fiber-rich diets that ease gut inflammation.

According to research, sleeping for at least 7 hours a day leads to better mood and mental health. So, be sure to create a good sleep routine, like avoiding caffeine or activities that stimulate the brain before going to bed.

Finally, spending time outdoors in nature impacts your mental health as well. Soaking in the sunlight regularly is a good way to get vitamin D, which boosts serotonin and eases depression.

3.Spending Time with Friends and Family Improves Mood

Let’s face it: many things can cause mood disorders that affect you emotionally. While it can be hard to remove potential triggers of mood decline in your life, having a support system of friends and family eases the situation.

If you feel down, take some time off from your routine and spend it with your loved ones. Even something as minor as engaging in conversation, laughing it out, or playing games together fosters a sense of belonging and increases happiness.

Here’s the good part: it doesn’t have to be an in-person meeting, especially when dealing with a hectic schedule or in different locations. Simply jump on a video call or chat to elevate your sporty and kick off loneliness that aggravates mood issues.

4.Drink Sufficient Amounts of Water and Take Breaks

The importance of adequate hydration can’t be overemphasized. Water is at the core of life and helps regulate various physiological processes in the body, from supporting the supply of essential nutrients and controlling blood circulation to waste removal.

Lack of enough water in the system leads to dehydration and a hindrance to body functions, which can lead to symptoms of mood disorders like fatigue and short-term memory loss.

Additionally, hydrating while still working continuously is futile. Excess work reduces oxygen and glucose, which are basically the brain’s fuel. This, in turn, causes a decline in mood and cognitive abilities. Introducing breaks in between activities helps restore these resources and stop the buildup of mental fatigue. It also positively impacts creativity and productivity.

5.Practice Journaling, Mindfulness, and Meditation

Is something stressing you? Write it down. Journaling is a perfect way of reeling in tension that affects mood—and science backs that up. Researchers conducted a study and discovered that those who wrote down things, good or bad, had better mental health. So, if you want depression, stress, and anxiety relief and a mood uplift, journaling might help.

Incorporating mindfulness practices like breathing into your daily routine improves mental and physical well-being. Mindfulness is about living in the moment and letting go of anything that pulls you back. This way, you are not carried away by negative emotions. Instead, it promotes a sense of calm, which improves mood.

Meditating is also linked to improved mental health. It improves mood by reducing cortisol levels. This reduces inflammatory reactions to mental issues like stress, which can directly affect sleep, trigger skin irritation, and worsen mood.

Dedicate a peaceful space and start meditating for even just 10 minutes daily to keep your mood up.

Conclusion

Mood changes are an obvious sign of imbalance in your life. It’s something that seems serious but a dangerous silent killer that gets worse when not resolved immediately. It often pushes victims to drugs and alcohol abuse in a bit to get their mood back. But that route makes things better for a short period, and then you sink even much lower into mood disorder.

A natural approach is an effective way to stabilize and improve mood. That includes a combination of natural supplements, socialization, a healthy lifestyle, proper hydration, journaling, and mindfulness.

No matter what you choose to start with, you must be consistent with the practice for long-lasting mood boost. And if the results are unsatisfactory, try other approaches, like going for counseling and taking medications.

Bitcoin Traders Eye Support at $40K as ETF Contrarian Bets Prove Right

Advertisements

The approval of spot bitcoin ETFs in the U.S. was much anticipated and well-priced, so the event will likely be a short- to mid-term top for the price, analysts said.

Bitcoin (BTC) contrarian bets were seemingly proven right as the much-awaited approval of a spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) turned out to be a “sell-the-news” event, one that analysts previously warned was possible given the token’s rapid price appreciation in the past months.

“Sell the news” is a well-known term in capital markets and describes how asset prices, leverage and sentiment run-up in the lead-up to a bullish event, only for prices to tumble shortly after.

BTC pulled back to as low as $41,500 early Monday, before recovering, after briefly hitting its two-year high above $49,000 as the first-ever spot bitcoin ETFs in the U.S. started trading last Thursday.

The approval of spot bitcoin ETFs in the U.S. was much anticipated and well priced, so the event will likely be a short- to mid-term top for the price, analysts at Japan-based crypto exchange bitBank told CoinDesk in an email.

“Bitcoin could be vulnerable to profit-taking selling pressures in the short term, but given lower U.S. treasury yields and the market’s optimistic outlook for the Fed’s early rate cuts, its downside risk may be limited,” they added.

bitBank said it considered the $40,000 psychological level as a support for bitcoin prices in the near term. Elsewhere, analysts at 10x Research, led by Markus Thielen, said in a Monday note that they expected prices to find support at as low as $38,000.

Meanwhile, FxPro market analyst Alex Kuptsikevich told CoinDesk in a Monday email that a correction to at least $40,000 per bitcoin would be “within bounds of typical corrections,” given the cryptocurrency’s price performance of over 150% over 2023.

As such, long-term expectations for bitcoin remain largely bullish, given the apparent demand for ETFs, as volumes indicate, among institutional players.

“Bitcoin ETFs will be transformative for the industry, allowing for vastly greater access from traditional wealth management – their launch will bring new investment into bitcoin from pensions, endowments, insurance companies, sovereign wealth, retirement plans, trusts, and many more,” shared Henry Robinson, founder at crypto fund Decimal Digital Group, in an email to CoinDesk.

“However, while the ETF launches are exciting, we think they offer no advantage over self-custody. For long-term holders, the fee emissions will bleed a position substantially. It may take many years, but we expect demand for ETFs to dwindle as bitcoin adoption rises and self-custody becomes more common among institutions,” Robinson added.

Google Cloud Joins Flare Network as Validator, FLR Jumps 5%

Flare, which calls itself “the blockchain for data,” gives developers access to decentralized data via its Oracle system

The cloud division of tech giant Google (GOOGL) has joined the Flare blockchain as a validator and infrastructure provider.

Google Cloud is one of 100 organizations adopting this combined role, both securing the network as a validator and contributing to the Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO), according to an announcement shared with CoinDesk on Monday.

Flare, which calls itself “the blockchain for data,” gives developers access to decentralized data via its Oracle system. In blockchain parlance, Oracle refers to entities that connect networks to external systems, thereby allowing smart contracts to be executed based on inputs and outputs from the outside world.

The network’s native token, FLR has a market cap of nearly $550 million and is priced at around $0.018. The token jumped over 4% after the partnership news came out.

Flare’s infrastructure providers are the parties responsible for providing high-quality data, thus helping developers build use cases for blockchain technology and further its adoption.

There are few entities that offer access to such a volume of data as Google Cloud, making it a banner partnership for Flare and a reminder of the blockchain adoption ongoing at tech giants like Google.

Whoosh! High-speed railway creates buzzword across Indonesia

Advertisements

Organized by China Daily and the ASEAN-China Centre, the “Song of Our Homeland” China-ASEAN International Media Tour 2023 was launched at the Halim Railway Station of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway in Jakarta, Indonesia, gathered journalists from main media outlets from China and ASEAN countries.

The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, running with a top speed of 350 km per hour, has ignited widespread enthusiasm in Indonesia.

Since Indonesian President Joko named the high-speed train “Whoosh”, it has become viral on the internet. Whether it’s echoed in crew announcements on the radio, emblazoned on food packaging, or inspired by symbolic gestures by passengers, “Whoosh” permeates the entire rail trip.

The Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway as a landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative and cooperation between China and Indonesia adopts Chinese technology and standards. However there are still many differences here, trains are covered in red, the color of Indonesian national flag.Chair decorations were inspired by the country’s intangible cultural heritage. Notably,Indonesian’s public enthusiasm one month after the opening of the rail is still not over yet.

The public still got incredible enthusiasm for the high-speed rail. But just imagine living in this densely populated city,it took about five hours from Jakarta to Bandung by motorcycle,it takes three hours by train or van,but now it takes only 40 minutes on a train that runs 350 km per hour. Indonesian President Joko Widodo was inspired by the roaring sound of the high-speed train. He created the word Whoosh for the high-speed rail.It has become an internet buzzword in Indonesia, in high-speed railway stations this word can be frequently seen. Whoosh refers to the high-speed rail. The Indonesians are also full of expectations for the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway and bilateral cooperation.

The train attendant said: “There will be Mandarin language classes for attendants, I haven’t received such training yet,but there will be such training courses for better communication with passengers. In the future,KCIC will appoint one vendor or a third-party (side) to manage these dining cars,to sell food and beverages and etc.And also the fact that the high-speed rail maybe will get bigger in the future. It will go further into other cities like Jogjakarta or Surabaya,I think it’s a very great cooperation between two countries.”

SEC Says Other Systems Secure After X Account Hack

Advertisements

The regulator’s latest update on the hack suggests it never lost access to the account.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said Friday its systems and devices were not breached by the party responsible for tweeting out a fake bitcoin ETF approval announcement earlier this week.

On Tuesday, the SEC’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, @SECgov, tweeted that the agency had approved a number of spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications to begin trading, a message that was ultimately shown to be faked by someone who was able to gain access to the account through the phone number associated with it. On Friday, the SEC statement provided a timeline of events on Tuesday, saying the first “unauthorized post” came at 4:11 p.m. ET (21:11 UTC), and SEC Chair Gary Gensler published his clarification 15 minutes later.

The statement suggested that SEC staff never lost access to the account, saying they had deleted the fake post, un-liked some other bitcoin-related tweets and shared an update on the main SECgov account within 30 minutes.

“Staff also reached out to X.com for assistance in terminating the unauthorized access to the @SECGov account. Based on information currently available, staff believe that the unauthorized access to the account was terminated between 4:40 pm ET and 5:30 pm ET,” the statement said.

An SEC spokesperson said on Wednesday that the FBI was investigating the issue, adding that the SEC did not draft the message (dispelling rumors that the fake approval notice was an already planned announcement that was released prematurely). Friday’s statement added that the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) are also investigating.

On Wednesday, the SEC did approve nearly a dozen bitcoin ETF applications, which began trading a day later.

The hack alarmed a number of lawmakers, who publicly demanded answers about how it happened. Senators Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) published a letter on Thursday asking that SEC Inspector General Deborah Jeffrey’s office open an investigation into the hack “and the SEC’s apparent failure to follow cybersecurity best practices.”

Future hacks could harm public markets and their stability, the letter said.

The letter followed Senators J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), who similarly asked Gensler to brief their teams on a number of questions around the hack and the SEC’s decision-making on bitcoin ETFs, including how the SEC “plans to rectify any financial losses borne by investors as a result of the errant announcement.”

“The SEC takes its cybersecurity obligations seriously. Commission staff are still assessing the impacts of this incident on the agency, investors, and the marketplace but recognize that those impacts include concerns about the security of the SEC’s social media accounts. The staff also will continue to assess whether additional remedial measures are warranted,” the SEC’s statement on Friday said.

Optimising profitability for franchising ToCoToCo brand by utilising local high-quality materials

The journey of researching and refining the essence of Vietnamese agricultural products in bubble tea offerings contributes to making ToCoToCo become a national milk tea brand.

Consistency with ingredients made from local agricultural products

On the first days of the New Year 2024, ToCoToCo starts to look for new material areas across the country, which is to serve the franchise expansion strategy. ToCoToCo’s utilising primary ingredients from Vietnamese agriculture not only helps the brand control the input of ingredients but also optimises the profitability for franchisees.

In 2023, ToCoToCo remarked on the first 10-year journey by the success in cementing its status as Vietnam’s premier bubble tea brand thanks to effort and creation to increase the coverage and conquer customers by taste and service. The achievement has a pivotal contribution by the board of directors’ consistency in utilising primary ingredients from Vietnamese agriculture.

The deployment and exploitation of the quintessence of Vietnamese agricultural product quality is reflected in the selection of raw material suppliers. ToCoToCo’s team of experts is always patient and steadfast in searching for raw material sources ranging from Oolong tea grown in Moc Chau tea fields at an altitude of over 1.000m – where there are cool, foggy mountainous areas, to Nam Dan cassava flour in Nghe An. One of the standout features of ToCoToCo’s materials is the organic green and oolong tea, which helps this brand conquer the most demanding markets, such as the US.

In addition, the team also looks for fruit gardens across the country to have the raw and quality materials for bubble tea offerings, for example, Ninh Binh pineapple farms, the naturally sweet and sour taste from fresh crimson mulberry jam in the cold land of Da Lat, or the fresh, nutritious taste from red dragon fruit in Binh Thuan. Entire clean agricultural products must be grown at farms meeting VietGAP standards.

Regarding powdered milk – which is a key ingredient of bubble tea, ToCoToCo imports Non-Dairy creamer powdered milk with abundant nutritional value and attractive aromatic flavour. In particular, this type of powdered milk is certified by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration, under the Ministry of Health) to meet the standards and nutritional ingredients that make up this product. In addition, for products using fresh milk, this national bubble tea brand uses pasteurised fresh milk to ensure deliciousness and is suitable for all customers from adults to children.

The material processing progress is controlled strictly to ensure food safety

At the same time, ToCoToCo’s raw materials are also strictly controlled based on many rounds of rigorous testing according to the ISO 22000 system before being processed at factories meeting HACC standards. ToCoToCo is also one of the rare brands in the Vietnamese market that supplies raw materials that meet ISO 22000 standards, which is food safety management standard provides specific requirements for a food safety management system that will enhance your ability to consistently deliver products and services that meet customer, as well as statutory and regulatory demands.

All are used and transformed by ToCoToCo with a special formula to create a harmonious drink   “A taste of nature – A cup of happiness” with an easy-to-drink flavour and many diverse toppings.

ToCoToCo’s consistency in utilising ingredients from Vietnamese agricultural products with clear origins contributed to changing the unsympathetic mindset of many consumers about milk tea ingredients in the domestic market.

In the past time, the functional force found hundreds of tonnes of bubble tea ingredients without a trustworthy origin despite having famous brand names on the package. The violators could not prove the origin of the remaining products, including boba pearls, brown sugar grains and syrup, and boba tea powder packs stamped with well-known tea brand names of Royal Tea and Gongcha.

Meanwhile, in reality, the owners of numerous other bubble tea franchises neglect the management of their partners, and as a result, their partners can use ingredients of unclear origin (while they are legally obliged to use the sources set by the franchise owners), thus there is no homogeneity in the quality of drinks and services offered at these shops. There are even fake brands.

The above situation makes a part of customers confused about the origins and quality of the bubble tea offerings in the market.

Market prominence with a large-scale production facility

The company now owns nearly over 700 locations spanning from the South to the North of Vietnam, and still constantly covers and spreads many international markets with chain stores in the US, Japan, and Australia. The brand has garnered the hearts of 10 million customers.

It is a breakthrough growth in the context ToCoToCo was a latecomer than competitors in the same field and at the time, the bubble tea market was shaped. In addition, ToCoToCo was in a fierce race with more than 100 bubble tea brands, many of which are heavy-weight rivals, such as Dingtea, Gongcha, KOI Thé, The Alley and Royal Tea.

The brand is expanding its store network to reach more customers. ToCoToCo aims to continue bringing delicious beverages made from Vietnamese agricultural products to customers across the country and the world, fulfilling the goal of promoting and introducing the quality of Vietnamese agricultural products.

Young people are excited with ToCoToCo’s new offerings

ToCoToCo currently operates a factory with an annual capacity of about 1.5 million kilogrammes of pearls and 1.2 million kilogrammes of jam per year for its store system. The material is produced on a methodical production line from machinery, and raw materials, to the factory’s infrastructure, creating the unique characteristics of the products. The total monthly consumption of ToCoToCo is 3 million cups of bubble tea.

“The company’s strategy is to upgrade the position of Vietnamese agricultural products and to export refined products to countries in the Asian region, then other markets such as the US and Australia. Therefore, ensuring the stable supply of raw materials that meet ISO 22000 standards is also a way for ToCoToCo to create a competitive advantage for products as well as for the franchising progress in both domestic and international markets,” Trang Nguyen, director of Engineering and Technology of Taco Vietnam Trading Service JSC said

“Ensuring the raw materials will help the franchisee’s independence from raw material supply constraints, and simultaneously enjoy cost reduction in product manufacturing, leading to increased investors’ profitability,” Ms Trang Nguyen said.

The company plans to expand the manufacturing facility with modern machinery and a closed production line to conquer the franchisee in both domestic and international markets.

Information from Australia’s 7News station said that 5 Vietnamese exchange students who came to study at Hamilton High School (Adelaide) on an exchange basis “disappeared without a trace” at different times, including some cases that have been uncontactable for more than 4 weeks.

Sunnie Nguyen (17 years old) is the latest case in the mysterious disappearance of a Vietnamese exchange student after she did not return to her host family’s home in South Plympton on January 8. This student’s phone has now been disconnected and her social network accounts have also been deleted.

Mrs. May Zervaas, Sunnie Nguyen’s host mother, made a plea to the public on a local television station: “I hope that if she can listen to this, she can call me and tell me that she’s okay.” According to Ms. Zervaas, Sunnie is content with living in Adelaide and has no reason to vanish as her visa is still valid for the next three years.

This is summer break time for schools in Australia. “So, I hope this is just a case of 17-year-olds wanting to get together to go somewhere without telling anyone,” said Ms. Lien Nguyen-Navas, spokesperson for the Vietnamese Women’s Association in Australia.

Responding to the Daily Telegraph, an Australian police spokesman informed that the guardian family reported the Vietnamese teenagers missing in December 2023 and January 2024. “All current lines of investigation indicate that some of the children may have gone to another state and are still there. There is also no information to suggest that the children are in danger,” the spokesperson said.

Australian officials announced on January 11 that they had found one of the missing Vietnamese international students. However, there are still 4 cases with no new information. “We are coordinating with the federal police to continue locating the children,” the police spokesman added.

Australian police are also urging anyone with any information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
