Samsung is getting ready to launch the new Galaxy S24 series, and they’ve already started preparing for it. According to a report, the Galaxy S23 FE will be released in Korea on December 1, 2023, priced at 800,000 won (around 600 USD).

Samsung has launched the Galaxy S23 FE as an affordable option in Korea due to economic challenges and a slow market, despite the popularity of high-end phones. It’s been three years since the Galaxy S Fan Edition phone was introduced in Korea.

Samsung Galaxy S24 with innovative AI capabilities

The report mentions that the Galaxy S24 series will be called an “AI Phone” because of its Generative AI capabilities, similar to ChatGPT and Dall-E. The product line will include three models: Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung has announced the Exynos 2400 processor, which will have faster GPU and NPU performance.

The Galaxy S24 will have on-device AI processing capabilities that will support text-to-image conversion and other features. Additionally, the report mentions a titanium frame for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro series.

Samsung considers the Galaxy S24 series important during these challenging times. The report also highlights Samsung’s financial results for the third quarter of 2023, showing a decrease in consolidated revenue compared to the same period last year but an increase in quarterly revenue. The company achieved operating profit, mainly due to strong sales of its flagship mobile phone models and demand for displays, along with some improvements in the Device Solutions Division.

Are organisations well-prepared for a generative AI-integrated workforce?

Advertisements

Generative AI is a frontier of machine learning coming into new focus over the last two years. New content generated through generative AI will eliminate routine tasks, such as customer service chat box, the repetitive workload of financial reports, and email drafting to improve work productivity and job satisfaction.

Incorporating generative AI into businesses and upskilling the workforce in AI are on the rise. Are organisations ready for this transformation?

RMIT, Deloitte, and the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam recently co-hosted an HR Forum themed “Generative AI and workforce transformation”. In the pre-event survey conducted by Deloitte Southeast Asia with the event registrants, where two thirds of the respondents worked in C-suite or Board levels, and middle-management level in Vietnam, less than half of the organisations responded with partial preparedness to integrate generative AI.

The survey also found that one in three HR professionals are familiar with AI, and only 21% of HR professionals have initiatives to integrate generative AI into their businesses. That is well below 50% of the non-HR counterparts who consider exploring or implementing generative AI technologies.

The discussions during the forum revealed that workforce competencies in generative AI varies across industries and firms. Industries that were reported to have higher AI integration levels are electrical engineering, logistics, and recruitment. Relatively less AI integration was reported for the construction and service industries such as accounting, legal, education, renewable energies, and insurance.

Mr Mark Teoh, Executive Director at Deloitte Consulting, commented that humans with AI will replace humans without AI. Despite its competitive edge there is so much of the unknown surrounding generative AI. While businesses are aware of this emerging tool, and would like to be informed about its applications and outcomes, there are concerns around adoption and application risks, and the business case for adoption remains unclear. Business leaders and managers were also concerned with ethical issues and limited applications of generative AI in their businesses.

The combination of the unknown and the opportunities to create a competitive edge through generative AI can be confusing yet enticing. Businesses need a clear roadmap of how, where, what, and who to integrate generative AI. The legal aspects, risks, and ethical implications of generative AI include data privacy at employee and organisational levels, licensing, and organisational intellectual property.

It is important to ensure that employees understand the technology and move forward with the AI-integrated support system. Dr Gavin Nicholson, Lecturer in Human Resource Management at RMIT Vietnam said that it is an issue not only for business but for broader society, therefore, nobody should be disadvantaged in being able to understand, utilise and benefit from using the technology.

Generative AI skills in the workplace have become global. The World Economic Forum projected 133 million new AI-enabled jobs worldwide by 2022 while 75 million jobs become redundant. AI adoption in organisations has increased remarkably. Researchreported that 77% of the workforce has employed AI in their work in China in some form, while this number is 71% for India.

AI-enabled talents and skills are needed to meet the emerging human resource transformation. So far, generative AI has been implemented in HR such as HR self-service, faster recruitment, more automated on-boarding processes, for increased productivity and better internal engagement.

Upskilling AI-related competencies in organisations is vital to adapt with new technological advantages and implement business strategies in the age of AI. The educated workforce will be compensated by a skill-based approach in organisations. Deloitte’s 2023 Human Capital Trends Report recommends more creative problem-solving, and data evaluation based on generative AI co-pilots.

The fifth RMIT and Deloitte HR Forum 2024 will continue to strengthen the institution and industry cooperation in bolstering the human capital in Vietnam.

Stop construction of the project that threaten Ha Long Bay Heritage

On November 6, the People’s Committee of Cam Pha City (Quang Ninh) issued a document to Do Gia Capital Co., Ltd. requesting them to halt the construction of an urban area project 10B located in Quang Hanh Ward (Cam Pha City) in the Ha Long Bay heritage buffer zone. The committee also directed the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to lead and coordinate with other departments, divisions, and units under the Cam Pha City People’s Committee to inspect the construction site of the urban area project. The inspection is to ensure compliance with State management and legal regulations.

The urban area project surrounds rocky mountains into a rockery

The Chairman of the Cam Pha City People’s Committee requested clarification of the content reflected in a number of articles related to the construction process of the project. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment will make recommendations and advise in accordance with the law and report to the People’s Committee of Cam Pha City before November 10 as a basis for reporting to the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh Province.

Do Gia Capital Co., Ltd. was previously reflected in an article for massively pouring land into the buffer zone of the World Natural Heritage of Ha Long Bay to build an urban area. The project’s construction is threatening the environment and heritage landscape, which is among the top 7 natural wonders of humanity. The exchange of nearly 4 hectares of world natural heritage buffer zone with beautiful landscapes for an urban area includes 451 villas and townhouses, rough construction and finishing of the exterior of 52 villas, and commercial and service projects, including a 7-story hotel.

Vietnamese travelers can be issued a Japanese e-visa after 5 days

The fastest waiting time for guests to receive a Japanese e-visa is after 5 working days when Japan applies a new policy for Vietnamese group visitors.

The Japanese Embassy in Vietnam this morning confirmed with VnExpress Japan’s decision to issue e-visas to Vietnamese group guests within the shortest time of 5 working days, from the date the application is accepted, without being requested. additional.

“The application submission date is the standard date to calculate the number of days needed, only the travel company and the Japanese embassy in Vietnam know. Therefore, we do not widely announce the 5 working days on the website. website”, the Japanese side confirmed.

Japan applies e-visa to Vietnamese tourists traveling in groups from November 1 and only travel companies on the list of authorized agents and designated companies (published on the Japanese embassy’s website) can apply. application. Companies that advise on studying abroad, sending interns, and mass organizations that apply for e-visas for officials and employees will submit it through an authorized agent instead of directly.

Ms. Vu Bich Hue, Head of Communications for Flamingo Redtours, one of the entrusting companies, said that issuing e-visas to package tour groups will bring convenience and shorten visa processing time for tourists. “Good tour prices, full package from only 18,900,000 VND, diverse products plus simple visa procedures will be an ideal time for tourists to visit Japan.”

The Japan Tourism Promotion Agency in Vietnam (JNTO) said that in the first 3 quarters of the year, Japan welcomed more than 17 million international visitors, equal to 72% compared to the same period in 2019. Nearly 440,000 Vietnamese tourists visited Japan. in the first 9 months of the year, increased 17% over the same period in 2019 and ranked in the top 7 markets sending largest visitors to this country. The remaining 6 markets include Korea, mainland China, Taiwan, America, Hong Kong, and Thailand. In the opposite direction, Japan is the 5th largest market sending tourists to Vietnam, after Korea, mainland China, the US and Taiwan, according to the National Tourism Administration.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Director of Asia Gate travel, a unit with 10 years of experience in the Japanese tour market in Hanoi, Vietnamese tourists have two advantages after the e-visa policy is applied: short visa waiting time. more and no need to submit original passport. Not needing to submit an original passport helps customers applying for visas in multiple places at the same time or while traveling abroad can still submit their applications. “Tourists just need to scan their passport,” Mr. Dung said.

The e-visa policy also helps travel companies “extend tour sales time” and attract more customers. Applying for a paper visa takes 9-10 days to process. If the tour departs on November 20, travel companies must stop accepting tours from November 8-9 to have time to apply for a visa. E-visa with the shortest issuance time of 5 days, travel companies can still receive visitors until November 13-14.

Here are Emerging Destinations for Foreign Investors in Vietnam

Advertisements

As the world’s leading manufacturers increasingly establish their presence in Vietnam, the imperative of developing urban centers in close proximity to industrial hubs has become more pressing than ever. This strategic approach not only enhances the appeal of these areas but also aids in the retention of skilled workers.

Troy Griffiths, Deputy Managing Director of Savills Vietnam, predicts that new urban areas with prime locations and modern infrastructure are becoming magnets for an increasing number of professionals, catering to the demands of multinational corporations.

One primary concern among investors is the availability of skilled labor in Vietnam and how to ensure a continuous supply of skilled workers for their operations, the Business Times reported.

In Vietnam, only a handful of industrial parks out of nearly 400 offer comprehensive urban amenities and services that cater to the needs of both investors and workers. Notable examples include the Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) group, a joint venture between Vietnam’s Becamex IDC Group and Singapore’s Sembcorp Industries, with locations in provinces like Binh Duong, Hai Phong, and Quang Ngai.

Vo Van Minh, Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee, shared that Binh Duong province has adopted the “industry-urban-service” development model, creating an attractive living environment and services for the diverse community surrounding the industrial center. “Investors can easily find workers, and workers can secure stable employment in the locality,” noted the Chairman.

Binh Duong, strategically situated in the heart of Vietnam’s Southern Key Economic Region and north of Ho Chi Minh City, has witnessed the development of new urban areas like Tokyu Garden City, a Japanese-style project co-developed by Becamex IDC and Japan’s Tokyu Group. This development is surrounded by major employment centers, including VSIP II and My Phuoc Industrial Park.

In a bid to cater to the increasing number of international manufacturers, other industrial parks, especially in tier 2 cities, need to enhance the level of services they provide to the growing workforce.

“Given labor shortages and limited land availability in prime locations like Binh Duong and Bac Ninh, investors are exploring tier 2 and 3 urban areas in Vietnam for more opportunities” Sophie Dao, Senior Partner at Global Business Services LLC (GBS) told reporter.

Sophie pointed out that emerging provinces are increasingly focusing on industrialization, with manufacturing and R&D projects moving to areas such as Nghe An in Central Vietnam.

Affordable Housing

Approximately 2.7 million workers are employed in industrial clusters across Vietnam, with nearly 1.2 million in need of housing support.

In response, the government recently approved a plan to construct at least one million low-cost houses for industrial park and low-income workers by 2030. Vietnamese banks are also offering interest-rate credit packages totaling 120 trillion VND to support buyers.

However, the development of social housing in Vietnam is currently slow, with only about 19,500 low-cost housing units completed, according to a Ministry of Construction report in August. The Ministry has proposed various solutions to expedite this process, including completing the legal framework and allocating land for social housing and worker dormitories.

Marc Townsend, a senior consultant at Arcadia Consulting Vietnam, anticipates a shift toward more affordable housing solutions in the next two decades to meet the strong demand.

Additionally, he identified a gap in the market for 2-star and 3-star international brand hotels in tier 2 urban areas, close to industrial parks. “There is a significant demand for hotels and accommodation, not just for workers but also for managers and buyers visiting factories,” he noted.

The Quang Ninh province has recently officially approved a pilot program for managing self-driven Chinese tourist car services between Mong Cai City (Quang Ninh) and Dong Hung City (Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China).

On October 30th, the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee announced that they have officially approved the pilot program for managing self-driven tourist car services between Mong Cai City (Quang Ninh) and Dong Hung City. The trial period for self-driven Chinese tourist cars began on October 30 and will conclude on September 30, 2026.

Cars of Vietnamese guests drove themselves to Dong Hung City to travel to another country in 2016.

According to the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee, self-driven Chinese tourist cars, after completing the entry procedures, will be allowed to travel to Ha Long City via National Highway 18A and the Ha Long – Mong Cai expressway.

Self-driven Chinese tourist cars are not permitted to enter National Highway 18C, a military area. The movement process allows for stopping and parking for filming and photography, with some restricted areas, such as other military zones.

For self-driven tourist cars from Quang Ninh, the relevant Chinese authorities will determine the regulations when departing for Dong Hung City.

In addition, Chinese tourist groups entering Vietnam under a tour program must use vehicles with fewer than 9 seats and display the travel agency’s logo. It is worth noting that each month, each side is allowed to process the entry and exit of only 300 cars, with a maximum of 10 cars per group.

The Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee has entrusted the Department of Transport and Communications of Quang Ninh to coordinate with the Quang Ninh Border Guard Command, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police, the Quang Ninh Customs Department, the Department of Transport and Communications, the Department of Tourism, and relevant local authorities to effectively organize the management of vehicle entry and exit in accordance with regulations. Periodically, monthly and annually, and at the end of the trial period, an evaluation of the implementation results will be conducted to report to the Prime Minister.

As reported by Thanh Nien, self-driven car tours for Chinese tourists to Quang Ninh have been available since 2016. In this arrangement, 5-7 seat cars from Vietnam can travel to Que Lam City (Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region) covering a distance of 600 kilometers, while similar Chinese cars can enter Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, covering a distance of 180 kilometers. Chinese tourists traveling to Quang Ninh in self-driven cars are required to have a visa. From there, tourists can leave their cars in Ha Long City and continue to other locations like Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Does Westlife concert boost tourism revenue in Ho Chi Minh City?

Over the past two days, BlackPink’s shows in Hanoi generated over 600 billion VND in tourism revenue, with a tourism platform predicting that the upcoming Westlife concert night in Ho Chi Minh City may “create a strong wave” for tourism.

According to the estimates of Hanoi’s Department of Tourism, during the two days of BlackPink’s performances, the total number of tourists who visited Hanoi exceeded 170,000, contributing to a tourism revenue of over 600 billion VND. The number of airline tickets to Hanoi at that time increased tenfold.

Speaking at a recent press conference, Mr. Caesar Indra, the Chairman of Traveloka, mentioned that their platform showed that visitors coming to Hanoi during the two BlackPink concerts were not only from various provinces and cities in Vietnam but also from across Asia.

Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism industry also expects Westlife’s music night in Ho Chi Minh City to contribute to increasing revenue and promoting the destination.

Mr. Caesar Indra, the Chairman of Traveloka, predicts that the two Westlife concerts on November 21 and 22 could also create a strong impact on tourism in Ho Chi Minh City, especially given the current economic challenges. He noted that as the event date approaches, the demand for services through their platform tends to grow significantly.

“We have just signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Tourism Authority of Vietnam to strengthen our partnership and establish long-term commitments for promoting tourism. Through this, we will provide more information about Vietnam’s destinations on our platform to inspire travelers and awaken their desire to explore these places,” a representative from Traveloka said.

A representative from the Department of Tourism in Ho Chi Minh City also shared that they expect the Westlife concert to contribute to increased revenue and, particularly, to promote the city as a destination.

“BlackPink fans are mainly young people, whereas Westlife fans are from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s generations. It is possible that Westlife’s audience includes residents of Ho Chi Minh City, so the revenue will increase, but it may not reach the same level as the concert of the South Korean girl group in Hanoi. As we approach the event date, we will coordinate with the event organizers and enhance the capacity of accommodations to provide timely support,” the representative from the Department stated.
