Bitcoin’s Recent Outperformance Fueled by Institutional Demand, JPMorgan Says

Advertisements

There has been a significant bitcoin inflow into larger wallets, which suggests institutional investor demand, the report said.

Optimism about the approval of a spot bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded-fund (ETF) by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) continues to grow, JPMorgan (JPM) said in a research report on Wednesday.

This optimism is reflected in bitcoin’s strong outperformance versus other digital assets, the report said, noting that the world’s largest cryptocurrency recently made a new high for the year.

“It looks like this latest flow impulse had institutional participation,” analysts led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou wrote.

The bank’s analysis of the crypto futures market supports this assertion.

“Our futures position proxy based on CME bitcoin futures, which tends to be used mostly by institutional investors, has spiked over the past week rising not only to the highest level for this year but also to levels last seen in August 2022 before the FTX collapse,” the analysts wrote, referring to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

JPMorgan says the equivalent futures position proxy for CME ether (ETH) futures remains subdued.

Institutional participation in the recent rally is also reflected in analysis of bitcoin flows, the note said. There has been a large BTC inflow into larger wallets, which points to institutional investor demand.

This contrasts with previous quarters “when the bitcoin impulse was led by smaller wallets thus more driven by retail investors,” the report said.

Observing partial lunar eclipse in Vietnam on October 29

Advertisements

According to NASA’s map, the areas where the upcoming partial lunar eclipse can be observed this time include Vietnam. The phenomenon will be visible in the designated area in its entirety. Although the coverage of this lunar eclipse is relatively low, it is still a notable astronomical occurrence, particularly in regions with favorable weather.

The partial lunar eclipse, set to occur on the morning of October 29, will last for 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 15 seconds from the beginning to the end of the partial phase. If the penumbra phase is also taken into account, the phenomenon will last for more than 4 hours. However, the penumbral phase is not easily noticeable, and the most interesting time to observe the eclipse is during the partial phase. Vietnam, as well as almost all of Asia, Europe, and Africa, will be able to fully observe this phenomenon.

The Vietnam Astronomical Association has stated that the next lunar eclipse that Vietnam will be able to observe will be a total lunar eclipse in September 2025. Lunar eclipses are not too rare, with at least one partial, total, or penumbral lunar eclipse occurring every year. It is an interesting optical phenomenon that attracts the attention of many people and can be easily observed even without any supporting equipment.

Dogecoin, Shiba Inu Jump 9% as Crypto Traders Take Riskier Bets

Advertisements

The two popular meme coins have mostly underperformed crypto majors in the past week.

Popular meme tokens dogecoin (DOGE) and shiba inu (SHIB) jumped some 9% in the past 24 hours, which suggests crypto traders are taking riskier bets on the back of bitcoin’s (BTC) outperformance.

Although there were no immediate catalysts for SHIB and DOGE tokens, the prices jumped on Thursday after social media platform X, formerly Twitter, revealed a video calling feature for premium users. This was likely a sign of irrational exuberance – as some traders have historically expected X to add DOGE as a payment option.

X CEO Elon Musk has often touted dogecoin as one of his favorite cryptocurrencies, even going as far as dedicating a segment to the meme coin during his appearance on the popular TV show “Saturday Night Live” in 2021. Twitter also briefly changed its logo to the dogecoin logo in April to spur a rally that gained as much as 37% for some traders.

Cumulative trading volumes for the tokens jumped to $1.2 billion on Thursday from $350 million on Monday, data shows.

Elsewhere, open interest in DOGE and SHIB futures spiked over 50% – indicating larger bets placed by traders who expect more volatility in the coming days.

Hopes of a spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) helped bump bitcoin prices some 30% over the past week before retreating, with ether (ETH), solana (SOL) and xrp (XRP) adding as much as 40%.

DOGE and SHIB added just 15% in the same period. However, the tokens underperformed other majors despite being generally more volatile.

Meanwhile, a run-up in both these tokens has historically marked a local top for bitcoin and other major tokens. “Every time that the price of DOGE starts rising rapidly, there’s a market-wide crash following just moments later,” blockchain analytics firm Santiment said in a report last December.

Eight instances of price spikes of dogecoin marked the local top for bitcoin – and the crypto market – in 2022, Santiment noted in its report.

International tourists are returning to Phu Quoc

Advertisements

Between October 24 and 25, two transit flights brought a total of 427 Russian tourists to Phu Quoc. These flights marked the first time in over a year that routes have reopened to welcome Eastern European passengers to Phu Quoc and Vietnam in general. The event has received positive attention from international tourists, particularly those from Eastern European and Central Asian markets.

Mr. Bui Quoc Thai, the Director of the Kien Giang Provincial Department of Tourism, has expressed his satisfaction with the recent influx of international flights to Phu Quoc. He sees this as a good sign for local tourism, which has otherwise been quiet. In the coming months, the Kien Giang tourism industry will focus on promoting Phu Quoc as an attractive and safe destination for tourists. They plan to communicate the visa exemption policy for international tourists, strengthen coordination with diplomatic agencies and Vietnamese representatives abroad, and promote tourism.

The resumption of Eastern Europe and Central Asia routes opens up many opportunities to welcome tourists to Phu Quoc Island in the last months of the year.

Korean Air will commence commercial flights from Seoul to Phu Quoc on November 26, with a frequency of one flight per day and an aircraft capacity of 330 seats. Jin Air and Jeju Air will also soon operate commercial flights to Phu Quoc, with a frequency of three flights per week and an aircraft capacity of 220 seats.

The recovery of key international tourist markets such as Eastern Europe, and South Korea, and potential new markets such as Kazakhstan demonstrates the special attraction of Phu Quoc, which CNN Travel and The Travel have both named “the cheapest tourist island in the world.”

An Giang: A coffee shop in the middle of a flooded field that attracts a lot of customers

Advertisements

Ms. Tran Thi Gia Hanh (34 years old) and Mr. Ha Hong Phuc, who live in Chau Thanh, An Giang, decided to return to their hometown to start a small business, no longer interested in the hustle and bustle of the city.

Ms. Hanh took advantage of the local agricultural advantages and opened the Nha Que coffee shop, seeing the growing number of people who were bored with the urban lifestyle and were looking for a peaceful countryside to travel and relax. The unique feature of this coffee shop is that it combines the coffee model with the fields to create a close space with enough virtual living corners.

Rice season is the season that attracts many young people to check in at the coffee shop.

Located in Ta Danh commune, Tri Ton district, An Giang, the cafe is situated amidst the fields that have two main seasons: rice season and flood season. The rice season is the most beautiful season of the year. During this season, visitors to the coffee shop will be able to see a 50m-long plank bridge spanning the fields connecting the shop to the “healing house”.

The “healing house” is a place with the most beautiful view and is checked in by most young people when coming to the shop. Here, visitors will be able to welcome the sunrise and sunset in a vast expanse of heaven and earth, which helps improve morale and reduce stress after tiring working hours.

Heaven and earth seem to blend into one during each flood season.

When water begins to flow from the upper reaches of the Mekong River, the Southwest enters the flood season, which lasts from August to November. The coffee shop wears a new dark alluvial shirt instead of the green field color. During high water season, the boardwalk is flooded, making it impossible to walk out. Therefore, the shop will use rafts to take customers to the “healing house” to enjoy the endless space of water fields. In addition to rafting, visitors can also experience canoeing or bathing in the fields.

Customers coming to the coffee shop at different times will enjoy different spaces. When they immerse themselves in the green of young rice seedlings, they can smell the sweet scent of ripe rice and see the brown color of alluvium when floodwaters flood the fields. This creates a uniqueness that is difficult for any coffee shop to achieve.

The sunset scene at the shop makes many people excited.

The best time to visit the coffee shop is from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day when the weather becomes cool and the sunset disappears at the foot of the mountain. This is also the busiest peak hour. Besides the “healing house”, the shop also has areas decorated with ancient scenes of Southern villages, flower gardens, tree houses, and Mediterranean-style decorations for young people.

The shop has many areas decorated with different themes.

Bitcoin’s Rise Fuelled by U.S. Investors Buying Ahead of Potential Spot ETF Approval: Matrixport

Advertisements

While most cryptocurrency owners are based in Asia, the buying power of U.S. traders is much bigger, the report said.

The world’s largest cryptocurrency, bitcoin (BTC), has risen 25% in the last month, with most of these gains accumulating during U.S. trading hours, crypto services provider Matrixport said in a note on Wednesday.

“This is a significant development and shows that U.S. institutions and U.S. investors are embracing the news that a U.S.-listed spot bitcoin exchange-traded-fund (ETF) appears imminent,” wrote Markus Thielen, head of research at Matrixport

ETFs are traded on an exchange and track the performance of an underlying asset. They are popular investment products as they are cheap to trade and allow investors to gain access to cryptocurrencies without buying the underlying digital assets themselves. Many analysts and trading houses expect spot bitcoin ETF approval to lead to a rush of mainstream money into the sector.

Matrixport notes there are about 420 million- 440 million cryptocurrency owners globally. 260 million are in Asia, 54 million in North America, 38 million in Africa, 31 million in South America and 1.5 million in Oceania. While Asia is the largest group by far, the “buying power of U.S. traders and institutions is a magnitude larger,” the report said.

The total crypto market cap has climbed back above $1.25 trillion, the note said.

There has been a 99% increase in volume, with $92 billion traded across the market, the note added. Bitcoin is still the top cryptocurrency, with 53% dominance, and is leading even the most high-beta altcoins in terms of performance, Matrixport said.

Technical indicators suggest that a pause in this bull market is likely, the report added.

Bitcoin’s Surging Perpetual Funding Rates Make Arbitrage Trades Attractive

Advertisements

The funding fee arbitrage involves selling perpetual futures while simultaneously buying the cryptocurrency in the spot market. The strategy currently offers an annualized yield of over 10%.

Arbitrage strategies, among the most popular approaches during previous crypto market bull runs, are back in vogue thanks to the widening spread between prices for perpetual futures tied to bitcoin (BTC) and the spot market price.

The difference, represented by funding rates (that is, the cost of holding long/short positions in perpetual futures, also called perp premium), has surged above an annualized 10% across major exchanges, including Binance, according to Velo Data. Positive funding rates mean buyers, or longs, pay shorts to keep their leveraged bullish bets open.

Traders can then set up a so-called funding fee arbitrage by selling perpetual futures while simultaneously buying the cryptocurrency in the spot market. That allows them to safely pocket the 10% in funding while bypassing the risk from a continued price rally.

“This is an excellent market for arbitrage opportunities where (nearly) risk-free returns of 10-20% can be achieved,” crypto services provider Matrixport’s research and strategy head Markus Thielen said. “BTC’s annualized perp premium was 40% yesterday. It has pulled back to 13% today, but still good enough for arbitrage trades.”

The surge in the perp premium is consistent with the previous bullish trends. Bitcoin has risen 25% in four weeks, with most gains happening during North American trading hours.

Which bank has the most satisfied customers in Vietnam?

Advertisements

Decision Lab, the exclusive partner of YouGov in Vietnam, has released the Decision Lab Bank Satisfaction Rankings 2023. The report ranks the top 10 banks in Vietnam based on how satisfied their customers are with their services. According to the ranking, Vietcombank is the most satisfying bank in Vietnam, followed by BIDV and Techcombank.

The ranking is derived from the positive satisfaction metric of the YouGov BrandIndex solution, a syndicated brand tracker that collects daily data on over 400 brands in Vietnam. This results from over 40,000 interviews conducted via the tool within two years.

Customer satisfaction is a critical factor for the success and growth of any banking operation. It affects the loyalty, retention, and profitability of the customers. Satisfied customers are more likely to purchase additional products and services from their bank, such as credit cards, loans, or insurance. They are also more likely to recommend their bank to others, which can generate positive word-of-mouth and attract new customers.

The Decision Lab Bank Satisfaction Rankings 2023 is a valuable resource for customers looking for banks with a proven track record of delivering exceptional customer experiences. Leveraging the power of satisfaction can help banks establish a loyal customer base, increase brand awareness, and drive business growth.

The ranking shows that Vietcombank is the most satisfying bank in Vietnam, with a score of 86.2, which jumped from the 4th position in the same period last year. This means that 86.2% of Vietcombank’s customers were satisfied with their bank.

In general, all banks’ satisfaction scores increased sharply this year. YouGov BrandIndex has been tracking daily banks’ brand health in Vietnam since 2016. Last year, the highest satisfaction score in the same period was 77.3, while this year, it jumped to 86.2 as all banks strived to enhance customer satisfaction. However, there were also some drastic changes in the ranking among banks, showing how competitive this market is.

BIDV follows Vietcombank with a score of 83.5. The bank’s satisfaction index grew dramatically, jumping four positions from 6th place last year. Techcombank is ranked third with a score of 83.4, dropped one place compared to the previous period.

MB stood in the 4th position with a score of 82.6. The military bank was ranked first in the previous period. VietinBanksecured the top 5 spot with a score of 82.3.

Other banks in the top 10 are ACB (81.7), HD Bank (79.5), HSBC (79.2), Sacombank (78.6), and VIB (77.9).

Alongside the Bank Satisfaction Ranking, Decision Lab also released the most improved bank ranking, highlighting the banks that have made the most significant improvements in satisfying their customers. The biggest improver is Standard Chartered Bank, which increased 12.0 points.

Vietcombank ranked second with a score increase of 8.9 points, followed by Agribank at third with a score increase of 8.2 points. BIDV and AB Bank rounded off the top five, relatively improving by 7.9 and 6.9 points.

The full report can be downloaded from the Decision Lab website.

Thue Quist Thomasen, CEO of Decision Lab, commented on the ranking:

“We are delighted to present the Decision Lab Bank Satisfaction Rankings 2023, the most comprehensive and reliable report on customer satisfaction in the banking industry in Vietnam. The ranking is based on the positive Satisfaction metric of the YouGov BrandIndex tool, which is the gold standard for measuring brand health and performance.

The ranking shows all banks in Vietnam have strived to enhance their customer satisfaction. However, there were also some drastic changes in the ranking among banks, showing how competitive this market is.

We congratulate Vietcombank for being the most satisfying bank in Vietnam, followed by BIDV and Techcombank. We also commend Standard Chartered Bank for being the most improved bank. We hope that the Decision Lab Bank Satisfaction Rankings 2023 will inspire banks to continue to enhance their customer satisfaction and leverage the power of satisfaction to drive their business growth.”

Methodology

The Decision Lab Bank Satisfaction Rankings 2023 are calculated using data collected from YouGov’s online panel in Vietnam daily from the flagship YouGov BrandIndex solution.

Brands were ranked based on their positive ‘satisfaction’ score. In this metric, people are asked, “Of which of the following Financial Institutions & Services brands would you say that you are a satisfied customer?”. Respondents are each bank’s current customers.

Tracking period: 1st October 2022 – 30th September 2023

Compared to: 1st October 2021 – 30th September 2022

All brands must have a minimum sample size of 100 responses and have been tracked for at least six months to be included in the Rankings and for at least 18 months to appear in the Improvers tables. The scores are representative of the Vietnamese online adult population aged 18+.

Euro 2024 Qualifying: Which countries are qualified?

Advertisements

Euro 2024 is set to be an exciting and fiercely contested tournament, bringing together the finest national teams in Europe. Not only in Europe, Euro 2024 is also a football tournament that is extremely loved and watched by Vietnamese people.

But before the main event, the qualifying stage must take place. This crucial phase determines which nations will earn their place in the tournament and presents an opportunity for underdogs to upset the established order.

A total of eight teams, consisting of France, Spain, Turkey, England, Austria, Portugal, Scotland, and Belgium, have successfully qualified for the tournament. In this article, we will discuss the current situation in each group and give you an overview of the Euro 2024 qualifying matches schedule. The top two teams from each group will automatically qualify for the tournament, which will take place in Germany in the summer of 2024.

Group A

Scotland and Spain have already secured their spots in the finals. On Matchday 9, Georgia will play against Scotland, while Cyprus will take on Spain.

Group B

France has already qualified for the Euro 2024 finals. On Matchday 9, France will face Gibraltar, while the Netherlands will play against the Republic of Ireland. If the Netherlands secures a victory against the Republic of Ireland, they will qualify for the finals. If the Netherlands wins, Greece will secure a spot in the play-offs. Both the Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar are incapable of securing one of the top two positions in the group.

Group C

England has already qualified for the finals and will be facing Malta on Matchday 9, while Italy will take on North Macedonia. If Italy manages to defeat North Macedonia, they have a chance to overtake Ukraine and qualify if they avoid defeat in their final game. However, if Italy fails to win against North Macedonia, Ukraine will take the qualification spot if they avoid defeat in their final match. North Macedonia and Malta failed to clinch one of the top two spots in the group.

Group D

Türkiye has already secured their qualification for the finals. On Matchday 9, Wales will play against Armenia, while Latvia will face Croatia. If Wales wins against Armenia and Croatia loses to Latvia, Wales will qualify for the finals. Should Croatia face a defeat and Wales emerge victorious, Croatia will earn a spot in the play-offs. If Armenia loses or if they draw and Croatia wins, Armenia will be out of contention for a top-two finish. Latvia, unfortunately, cannot secure a position within the top two ranks of the group.

Group E

There are still qualification spots up for grabs. On Matchday 9, Moldova will face Albania, while Poland will play against Czechia. Albania has the chance to qualify if they avoid losing to Moldova or if Poland wins against Czechia. Czechia, on the other hand, can qualify if they defeat Poland and Moldova does not win. Poland’s qualification hopes will be dashed if they do not win their match or if Moldova beats Albania. The Faroe Islands are not in contention for one of the top two positions in the group.

Group F

Belgium and Austria have both qualified for the finals. On Matchday 9, Estonia will face Austria, while Azerbaijan will play against Sweden. These matches will decide the final standings in the group, but the outcomes will not affect the qualification of Belgium and Austria.

Group G

There is a lot at stake on Matchday 9. Montenegro will face Lithuania, while Bulgaria will play against Hungary. Hungary can secure their qualification by either avoiding defeat against Bulgaria or if Montenegro does not defeat Lithuania. On the other hand, Serbia will secure qualification if Montenegro does not emerge victorious. Montenegro must win to maintain their chance of finishing in the top two. However, Lithuania and Bulgaria are both out of the running for one of the top two spots in the group.

Group H

On Matchday 9, Denmark will play against Slovenia, Kazakhstan will face San Marino, and Finland will compete against Northern Ireland. Slovenia has a chance to qualify for the finals if they defeat Denmark or secure a draw, as long as Kazakhstan does not win.

Denmark, on the other hand, will secure qualification if they win or if Kazakhstan fails to win. Kazakhstan, however, cannot finish in the top two spots and will enter the play-offs if they lose or if they draw and Slovenia does not lose. Both Finland and Northern Ireland are unable to finish in the top two, and San Marino is also out of contention.

Group I

There are still multiple possibilities for qualification on Matchday 9. The rescheduled Matchday 7 fixture will see Israel facing Switzerland. On Matchday 9, Switzerland will play against Kosovo, Belarus will face Andorra, and Israel will compete against Romania.

Romania has a chance to qualify if Israel loses to Switzerland and Romania then defeats Israel. Switzerland can secure qualification by defeating Israel and Kosovo. Israel has the opportunity to qualify if they defeat Switzerland and Romania, and Switzerland does not beat Kosovo.

In the event that Israel suffers defeats against both Switzerland and Romania, their chances of finishing in the top two will be eliminated, and they will be confirmed participants in the play-offs. Kosovo cannot finish in the top two if Switzerland defeats Israel. Both Belarus and Andorra are unable to clinch a top-two spot in the group.

Group J

Portugal has secured their place in the finals. On Matchday 9, Slovakia will face Iceland, Luxembourg will play against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Liechtenstein will compete against Portugal. If Slovakia manages to avoid a defeat against Iceland, they will secure qualification. Luxembourg’s chances to finish in the top two are slim unless they defeat Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovakia loses. Iceland needs a victory to remain in the running for a top-two finish, while Bosnia and Herzegovina will enter the play-offs as they cannot secure a top-two position.

Euro 2024 qualifying is in full swing, with nations battling it out for a chance to participate in the prestigious tournament in Germany. The group stage battles and the subsequent playoffs promise a thrilling and competitive footballing spectacle. As the campaign progresses, football fans across Europe will eagerly watch their favorite teams fight for qualification, and the tournament promises to be an exciting showcase of the continent’s footballing talent.

Currently, the Euro 2024 qualifying matches have been copyrighted by Viettel and are broadcast on TV360 so Vietnamese football lovers can easily watch the matches and support your favorite teams on TV360 channel.
