The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that, accepting invitations from Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, his spouse, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation are set to pay a state visit to Russia, conduct an official visit to France, and attend the Space Summit in Paris.
The visit to Russia and France will take place from September 7 to 12.
Vietnam and Russia share a long-standing traditional friendship. The two nations elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2012.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Russia reached $4.77 billion in 2025, up 4% compared to 2024. In this exchange, Vietnam exported nearly $2.3 billion in goods and imported more than $2.5 billion from Russia.
Russia maintains 223 valid investment projects in Vietnam with total registered capital of about $996 million, ranking 28th among 153 investing nations and territories. Meanwhile, Vietnam operates 19 valid investment projects in Russia totaling $1.64 billion in registered capital, ranking fourth among 88 destinations for Vietnamese outbound investment.
With France, the two nations elevated relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in October 2024.
Total bilateral trade between Vietnam and France reached roughly $6.3 billion in 2025, marking solid positive growth compared to 2024.
France ranks 16th among 153 countries and territories investing in Vietnam, with 746 valid projects valued at approximately $4 billion in registered capital. In return, Vietnam holds 20 active investment projects in France with total registered capital of $38.78 million.
