The above content has just been answered by the Ministry of Transport to voters in Ho Chi Minh City regarding the expansion of Tan Son Nhat airport.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the project of building T3 passenger terminal and synchronous technical infrastructure works (high-rise parking garage, telescopic bridge system…) of Tan Son Nhat airport is currently being carried out by the Port Corporation Aviation of Vietnam (ACV) organizes the implementation.
According to the design of T3 terminal with a scale of about 20 million passengers/year, the total investment of the station and synchronous ancillary works is about 10,990 billion VND, taken from ACV’s capital, not using state budget capital.

Construction is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2022 and be completed and put into operation in 2024. After completing the T3 terminal and combining with terminals such as T1 and T2, it will increase the total designed capacity of Tan Son Nhat airport to 50 million passengers/year.
Previously, due to problems with the transfer of defense land, the project has not yet started construction.
At the beginning of July, during a meeting with ministries, sectors and localities to drastically accelerate the progress of projects to increase the capacity of Tan Son Nhat airport, the Prime Minister requested to start construction of the T3 passenger terminal project and other facilities. The traffic project connecting to the station in the third quarter of 2022 and by September 2024 must complete this station.
After that, the Government agreed to the policy of the Ministry of Defense to hand over about 27.85 hectares of defense land to the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for management to implement the T3 passenger terminal project.
