Tigerair, the low-cost airline from Taiwan, will launch a new direct route between Taoyuan and Phu Quoc Island on April 2, as part of its ongoing efforts to expand into the Southeast Asian market.
In a statement, Tigerair announced that initially, there will be three round-trip flights between the two destinations each week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Flight IT557 to Phu Quoc will depart at 14:40 from Taoyuan International Airport, and the return flight IT558 to Taoyuan will leave Phu Quoc International Airport at 18:25, according to Focus Taiwan.
To celebrate the new route, the airline said special fare deals will be announced starting from next Tuesday.

Phu Quoc is renowned for its beautiful beaches, resorts, as well as local specialties such as fish sauce, pepper farms, and pearl farms. Phu Quoc also has a policy allowing foreign visitors to enter visa-free for up to 30 days.
In addition to Phu Quoc, Tigerair is also operating services from Taoyuan to Da Nang, Vietnam, and Bangkok, Phuket in Thailand.
Recently, international tourists have been flocking back to Phu Quoc. According to the report from Kien Giang Tourism Department, during the recent Lunar New Year holiday, the region welcomed over 335,000 tourists, including nearly 53,600 foreign visitors; Phu Quoc alone received over 191,000 visitors, an increase compared to the same period last year.
Phu Quoc is currently hosting various exciting activities to attract both domestic and international tourists. For example, the underwater art sports performance Jetski was officially introduced on February 27 at the Sunset Town Beach area, with a panoramic view of the iconic Honeymoon Bridge. The show will be performed 1-2 times daily, from 17:30 to 19:30, during Phu Quoc’s spectacular sunset.

Following “The Kiss of the Ocean” – a multimedia art show combined with fireworks every evening, Jetski is the second international show introduced by Sun Group to tourists both domestic and international when visiting Phu Quoc, alongside a series of other performances such as Vietnamese Puppetry, Fire Juggling, Sparkling, etc.
The People’s Committee of Phu Quoc City has also recently issued a code of conduct for civilized tourism in Phu Quoc City, which includes provisions that tourists visiting here should not give money to beggars.
