Vietnam will meet Thailand in the final of the 2019 AFF Women’s Championship on August 27, hoping to beat the home side to lift the overall trophy for the third time in history, after the previous triumphs in 2006 and 2012. Nhan Dan Online reports.
Coach Mai Duc Chung’s side experienced an amazing journey en route to this year’s title match. They wrapped up their group-stage campaign in a perfect fashion, claiming three consecutive straight wins against Cambodia (10-0), Indonesia (7-0) and Myanmar (4-0).
As the Group B winners, Vietnam confidently headed into the semifinal, where they comfortably outplayed the Philippines 2-1 to extend their superior head-to-head record against the opponents to 8-0 (W8 L0).
