The Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel) has announced its successful bid for the rights to use three radio frequency spectrum bands. The enterprise will rapidly deploy network infrastructure to deliver telecommunications services powered by advanced technologies in the Dominican Republic—marking Viettel’s third market in the Americas.
Under Resolution No. 073-2026 issued on August 19, 2026, by the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (INDOTEL), Viettel Global Investment Joint Stock Company (Viettel Global, ticker symbol: VGI)—a subsidiary of Viettel Group—secured the rights to use 240 MHz of frequency spectrum across the 700 MHz, 2300 MHz, and C-Band spectrums for 4G/5G mobile networks under a 20-year concession.
Guido Gómez Mazara, President of the Board of Directors of INDOTEL, stated: “Our goal is to bring superior quality telecommunications services to the people of the Dominican Republic, boost market competitiveness, and, most importantly, optimize costs for our citizens.”

Within the next 90 days, Viettel Global will complete the procedures to establish a legal entity in the Dominican Republic and sign the official concession contract with INDOTEL. Once operational, the Dominican Republic will officially become the 11th international market in Viettel’s global investment and telecom business portfolio.
Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, shared: “Winning the spectrum auction in the Dominican Republic marks a significant milestone in Viettel’s ongoing overseas expansion. Backed by over 20 years of proven international business experience, Viettel remains committed to a long-term investment model tied to modern infrastructure development, deploying cutting-edge technologies, and creating sustainable value for local citizens, enterprises, and the domestic economy.”
Situated at the heart of the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic represents the region’s second-largest economy, with a per capita GDP of approximately $11,000 USD. The country boasts a dynamic economic landscape, an open investment environment, and a surging demand for digital services and high-speed mobile data, providing substantial growth momentum for advanced telecommunications infrastructure.
To date, Viettel operates telecommunications networks across 10 international markets, holding the leading market share in seven of them. In 2025, revenue from its overseas operations reached $3.34 billion USD—up 23.9% year-on-year—marking its ninth consecutive year of double-digit growth and contributing over 40% to Viettel’s total growth structure.
In the Dominican Republic, Viettel plans to build state-of-the-art telecommunications infrastructure on a large scale, expanding coverage to remote regions, broadening access to high-speed connectivity, and progressively developing a digital ecosystem tailored to the practical needs of local residents, businesses, and public organizations.
