Over the past few years, the life transformation of So Y Tiet (born 1988, Gia Lai) has remained a frequent point of discussion online whenever unexpected internet sensations are brought up. From a hired cowherd, he became a global viral sensation with his intuitive number-counting song.
After amassing millions of followers and securing an online income stream, So Y Tiet was dubbed by the public as “Vietnam’s most famous cowherd” and “Vietnam’s wealthiest cowherd.” His daily life underwent considerable changes: he saved money, purchased land, built a home, and married his wife, Bong Lan. In a recent disclosure, Y Tiet shared details about their living arrangements that quickly caught public attention.
The famous internet personality explained that despite owning a private residence built in 2022, the couple rarely stays there—a decision dictated by his chronic, multi-year health complications.
So Y Tiet shared that aftereffects from a past bout with tuberculosis frequently trigger bouts of pneumonia and severe coughing fits whenever the weather changes. Each hospital stay can last over a month, requiring extended intravenous antibiotic regimens. Because of the frequent clinical checkups and inpatient treatments, Bong Lan continually had to commute between their house and the hospital to care for her husband and their child. Consequently, the couple chose to rent a small room near the medical facility for easier travel.
So Y Tiet disclosed that early earnings from social media relieved much of their financial burden. However, earning money online is no longer as effortless as before. Videos must feature captivating ideas that resonate with audiences and encourage shares to achieve strong viewership; otherwise, recurring revenue remains difficult to sustain.
A few followers offered to send financial aid, but the couple declined, stating they can still manage their own livelihood.

These disclosures prompted an outpouring of supportive messages from the online community. Many shared words of empathy, noting that producing digital content independently with limited resources is challenging, while encouraging the couple to persevere and wishing So Y Tiet a speedy recovery:
“Other creators do well because they have entire production crews and expensive gear worth hundreds of millions of dong. You two are working on your own, so it is natural to face hurdles, but people still support you,” one user commented. Another wrote: “The internet always brings a mix of praise and criticism; disregard the noise and live your own life. Wishing you good health.” Others added: “I have followed your journey for years and deeply admire your resilience and optimism. Wishing you peace and health,” and “Starting from empty hands to now having a wife, a child, and your own home is already a great achievement.”
In late 2020, So Y Tiet went public with his relationship with Bong Lan. The two shared an immediate connection, as both grew up as orphans and understood each other’s hardships. Bong Lan not only stands by him in daily life but also helps manage his schedules and content workflow. After spending their early relationship in rental quarters, the couple saved up to acquire land, construct a home, and start their family.
In 2021, the couple bought a 648-square-meter parcel to build their house. By mid-2022, basic construction was completed. So Y Tiet shared at the time that total expenditures for building and essential furnishings were projected at nearly 1 billion VND.
This sum was not the result of a single lucrative corporate sponsorship or family assistance, but was saved bit by bit through steady work over an extended period.
