On June 25, news circulated online regarding a man who invited his online female date and her group of friends to a seafood restaurant in Viet Tri Ward. Following the meal, the woman and her friends abruptly left. This departure left the man stranded with a bill exceeding 16 million VND (approximately 640 USD). Remarkably, the man did not settle the balance.
The incident occurred at the “Hai San Viet Tri” (Viet Tri Seafood) restaurant on Vu The Lang Street. This restaurant is a well-known dining spot for local residents.

The incident took place at around 10:00 PM on June 24. Speaking with reporters, a leader from the Viet Tri Ward Police stated that officers arrived at the scene immediately upon receiving the report to investigate and clarify the matter. Authorities identified the man as Mr. T., a resident of Tam Duong Commune, Phu Tho Province.
During the initial verification, Mr. T.’s family disclosed that he has recently displayed unusual psychological symptoms. Before the incident occurred, he had already shown signs of mental instability.
The Ward Police leader further revealed that Mr. T. had met a girl through social media. He then invited her and a group of six to seven people, including children, to the seafood restaurant for dinner.
During the meal, the group ordered numerous high-end seafood delicacies. Their order included king crab, Alaskan king prawns, giant isopods, sweet snails, and various beverages. The guests even asked the restaurant staff to pack up the leftovers to take home.
However, as the dinner wrapped up, the accompanying group left the restaurant one by one. Only Mr. T. remained behind, but he did not pay the bill.

The final receipt totaled over 16 million VND due to the expensive seafood dishes.
According to the Viet Tri Ward Police leader, an initial check confirmed that the prices listed on the invoice matched general market rates, showing no signs of overcharging.
Following the refusal to pay, police officers escorted Mr. T. to the station for questioning. Throughout the process, he appeared dazed, refused to cooperate, and declined to sign the official police report.
Currently, the Viet Tri Ward Police have verified Mr. T.’s identity and permanent residence. They will coordinate closely with the local police department in his hometown to assess his official health status and investigate all related details. These findings will serve as the legal basis to handle the case in accordance with regulations.
