All unnecessary services in Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi, have been ordered to shut down as part of measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus, the city’s ruling body said on Wednesday.
Hanoi has also called on places of worship not to organize events with large numbers of people, and to limit public gatherings as the number of COVID-19 infection cases in the city keeps rising, the Hanoi People’s Committee said in a statement.
Unnecessary business services like dance clubs, gaming venues and activities involving many people like sports events must be halted. Vietnam News Agency reports.

Businesses providing necessary services like food and petrol can operate as normal.
The authorities also asked people to avoid gathering in large crowds, encouraged them to work and study from home.
Religious and worship centers have been ordered not to hold events with large numbers of participants.
HCM City also ordered the closure of all restaurants, beer clubs, beauty centers, barber shops and gyms from 6pm on Tuesday, March 24.
As of 21:00 on Wednesday, Vietnam recorded 141 COVID-19 cases, 17 cases have recovered and discharged from local hospital.
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city are the two localities with the highest number of patients.
