At approximately 6:00 AM on July 12, a police task force patrolled Phuoc Tuy 1 Village. They inspected a local grocery store where residents were watching the Norway vs. England match.
Officers found an individual using an online betting account to record wagers for several participants. The total value of the wagers reached 1.8 million VND. The match was still ongoing during the inspection.
Dien Tho Commune Police have documented the incident and seized all relevant evidence. They are now consolidating the case files. Authorities are also verifying the roles of those involved to ensure strict legal action.
Moving forward, the police will continue these coordinated monitoring efforts. They are determined to combat all forms of illegal gambling. Their goal is to ensure the 2026 World Cup remains a safe and healthy sporting event for the community.
