The Rescue Operation
At around 6:00 AM on June 28, the 114 Command Information Center under the Fire Fighting, Prevention, and Rescue Police Department of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police received an emergency report. The report stated that two individuals were trapped in an elevator at a hotel located within Sam Son Ward.
Immediately upon receiving the alert, the River Fire Fighting, Prevention, and Rescue Police Team urgently dispatched officers, soldiers, and specialized vehicles to the scene. They quickly coordinated with local on-site forces to deploy rescue operations.
Upon arrival, authorities determined that the elevator cabin had stopped abruptly between the 2nd and 3rd floors, leaving two people—one male and one female—unable to escape.
Because they were trapped in a tight, enclosed space, the victims began showing signs of panic. Rescue officers quickly approached the elevator shaft, continuously offering reassurance and instructing the victims to remain calm and cooperate throughout the process. After accurately assessing the scene and establishing an effective plan, the rescue team utilized specialized equipment to open the cabin door, safely bringing both individuals outside.
Safety Recommendations from the Authorities
Following the incident, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police issued vital safety guidelines for citizens who find themselves trapped in an elevator:
-
Stay Calm: Keep your composure and absolutely do not attempt to pry the doors open or find a way out on your own.
-
Signal for Help Immediately: Use the elevator’s emergency alarm button or a phone to contact the building management, rescue forces, or relevant authorities for timely assistance.
-
Do Not Move Aggressively: Avoid jumping, shaking, or taking any actions that could destabilize the cabin. Such movements can make the situation significantly more dangerous and complicate professional rescue efforts.
