Vietnam has recorded no new locally transmitted coronavirus case for 61 consecutive days,, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control reports Monday morning.
The total number of infections remain 1,180, of whom 691 are locally transmitted cases, including 551 cases linked with the outbreak in the central city of Da Nang since July 25.
1,063 COVID-19 patients had been successfully treated while 35 patients with serious underlying diseases had died.
Since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, Vietnam has closely monitored the situation and installed a series of proactive, comprehensive measures to combat the spread of the virus within the country and prepare its public health facilities.
Past experience with other epidemics places Vietnam in a strong position to protect its population as well as visitors passing through.
Vietnam currently mandates COVID-19 testing for the following individuals. Further details are available in the Official Document here (in Vietnamese only).
- Those who have had close contact with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases;
- Confirmed COVID-19 cases during treatment;
- Individuals with symptoms of severe acute respiratory infections (SARI), severe viral pneumonia, or influenza-like illness (ILI);
- Healthcare workers attending to confirmed COVID-19 cases without applying sufficient prevention measures;
New arrivals from foreign countries, individuals in centralized quarantine and one day prior to release from centralized quarantine; and - Individuals in isolated outbreak areas
