Vietnam logged 37 COVID-19 patients, including two imported cases, alongside three recoveries on Friday, with Da Nang still a major source of infection.
The two imported cases, including a Filipino, were quarantined upon arrival in Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said.
The local infections, all traced back to Da Nang, include 22 in the coastal city, eight in Quang Nam Province, one in Hanoi, one in Hai Duong Province, two in Quang Tri Province, and one in Thanh Hoa Province.
Vietnam has confirmed 784 COVID-19 patients as of Friday evening, including 314 imported cases quarantined upon entry into the country, according to the Ministry of Health.
The health ministry announced three recoveries in Nam Dinh Province on Friday, taking the national total to 395.
Ten fatalities have been recorded so far and they all had severe underlying problems.
At the time of writing, Vietnam is quarantining 178,451 people who had close contact with infected patients or entered the country from outbreak-hti regions.
A total of 330 domestic infections have been linked to Da Nang since July 25, when Vietnam recorded the first local transmission after having gone 99 days with no documented community spread.
The cases consist of 235 in Da Nang, 62 in Quang Nam, three in Quang Ngai Province, three in Dak Lak Province, two in Dong Nai Province, eight in Ho Chi Minh City, four in Lang Son Province, three in Bac Giang Province, four in Hanoi, one in Hai Duong Province, one in Ha Nam Province, one in Thai Binh Province, one in Thanh Hoa Province, and two in Quang Tri Province.
