Vietnam reports nine new Covid-19 cases in Hanoi and Da Nang, total 459

Vietnam confirmed nine more Covid-19 cases Thursday morning, with 8 cases in Da Nang city and 1 case in Hanoi, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

As on today morning, the country has recorded 43 community transmission cases since Saturday – 34 in Da Nang, three in Quang Nam Province, two in HCMC and two in Hanoi, one in Quang Ngai Province and one Dak Lak Province. Health & Life newspaper, a state-run media reported.

All 43 new patients are linked to Da Nang City, now Vietnam’s biggest Covid-19 hotspot.

• Case 452: Male, 52 years old, is a patient being treated at Danang Hospital.
• Case 453: Female, 56 years old, is a patient being treated at Danang Hospital
• Case 454: Female, 65 years old, is a family member to take care of a patient at Da Nang Hospital.
• Case 455: female, 32 years old, is a patient being treated at Danang Hospital.
• Case 456: Female, 57 years old, in Hai Phong street, Hai Chau district, Da Nang.
• Case 457: Male, 70 years old, in Hung Vuong, Hai Chau district, Da Nang.
• Case 458: Female, 38 years old, in Hoa Son, Hoa Vang, Da Nang.
• Case 459: Male, 76 years old, in Hoang Hoa Tham, Tay Ho, Hanoi.

The national Covid-19 tally now stands at 459, of which 90 cases are active. There has been no death to date. Over 16,000 people are in quarantine nationwide at present – 13,000 in quarantine facilities, 375 at hospitals and the rest at home.

Beginning 00:00 on July 28 for at least 15 days, all passenger flights to and from Da Nang are suspended; long-distance trains and bus routes are also not allowed to stop in the city.

Vietnamese media reported that several central provinces, including Kon Tum, Lam Dong, Quang Nam, and Thua Thien Hue, have established multiple checkpoints to screen travelers in an effort to timely detect suspected COVID-19 cases. Given the current COVID-19 situation in Vietnam, other localities may take similar measures without prior notice.

The Vietnam’s Ministry of Health late Tuesday issued an urgent notice to trace people who have visited the venues or places where confirmed COVID-19 patients have been.

They called on anyone who has visited the these locations in Da Nang City and Quảng Nam Province – Vietnam’s latest COVID-19 hotspots – to come forward and seek medical help as soon as possible.

They must also self-quarantine at home, file a health status declaration at https://tokhaiyte.vn or download NCOVI app (the links for download can be found at https://ncovi.vn) and frequently submit information regarding their health.
