Under the theme “Martial Arts Warriors,” inspired by the training journey of a Kung Fu apprentice, this year’s competition required teams to seamlessly combine mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics design, automatic control, computer vision, artificial intelligence, and strategic tactical execution.

Under the tournament rules, each team operated two coordinated robots to execute a sequential series of arena tasks: navigating obstacle zones, assembling simulated traditional weaponry, collecting martial arts scrolls, and deploying tactical moves in a dynamic game of tic-tac-toe.
ABU Robocon 2026 tested not only the speed and precision of the robots but also the teamwork, discipline, endurance, and strategic thinking of the student engineering teams.
To accomplish the missions, participating teams solved multiple complex engineering challenges simultaneously, ranging from precision mechanics, automated control systems, computer vision, and sensor integration to multi-robot coordination and real-time tactical adjustments based on live match conditions.

Vietnam’s representative at ABU Robocon 2026 was the LH-FOF team from Lac Hong University, the reigning national champions of Robocon Vietnam 2026.
Following intense knockout rounds, the Lac Hong University team clinched joint third place alongside Toyohashi University of Technology from Japan. In addition to the podium finish, Vietnam’s representative took home the prestigious Best Robot Design Award.

In the final standings, Hong Kong Team 1 claimed the Grand Championship title, while Hong Kong Team 2 finished as runners-up.
ABU Robocon is an annual robotics competition organized by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), providing engineering students across the region with a platform to apply theoretical knowledge to the development, construction, and deployment of fully functional robotic systems.
