As a mother to a five-year old girl, it is my deep sorrow that she has to experience this kind of routine. Almost two months now since the government has suspended all classes from preschool to university, my daughter has to stay at home.
The only time she is allowed to go out is to exercise for thirty minutes. She misses her preschool, piano lesson, playdates, movie night outs, travel, shopping, eating out and all the exciting activities that a child has to enjoy. Every day, every single night, I quietly say SORRY to her that she has to go through all these adversities.

A single directive from the government totally changed our lives. We immediately altered our daily schedule and embarked a difficult lifestyle. But we MUST follow. Now, we have slowly adjusted to this kind of life…of course, everyday there is fear that one of us in the family will be positive in this virus. However, we have learned to trust the government and lift all our worries to the Lord.
The psychological effects that one has to battle to be able to survive during this turmoil is never easy. Anxiety, panic attacks or even depression could possibly be felt. As a mother, however; I have to be the pillar of strength to my family. Waking up at 6AM gives me the opportunity to witness the sunrise and reflect on all the positive spectrums of life. In addition, an intellectual conversation with my husband while drinking coffee is truly helpful for me to hold high hopes in spite of all the negative news around the globe. It is significant that my mental faculties are strong and prepared before I face another challenging day.
The moment my daughter gets up; she immediately starts her “personalized” schedule. Reading, painting, drawing, storytelling, playing her toys, baking and cleaning the house are only few activities that make her day a fruitful one. Yes, it is indeed demanding and tiring, but for now this is the only option to survive in this invisible opponent.
We are grateful that the Vietnam government has been efficient enough in securing and protecting the people. There is sufficient food supply (everything can be purchased in the convenience store.) The early detection, isolation and treatment method is genuinely admirable and effective. All the government agencies are sincerely working together to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Even though the number of confirmed patients is increasing; our family feels SAFE.
Let us help one another by following the directives from the government. Pray for all the front-liners who are on the ground zero that they may make it through this ordeal.
