Vietnam records 37 more novel coronavirus patients Friday evening, of whom 26 cases are imported and had been under quarantine up-on arrival, 03 new cases in Ho Chi Minh city and 08 other cases in Quang Nam Province, the health ministry said on its website.
The most of recent patients were linked to three hospitals and two clinics in Danang, according to the health ministry
“Patient 510” and “Patients 517 to 526”, aged between 15 to 90 are either patients or family members taking care of patients at different hospitals in the central city.
“Patients 511 to 516 “are crew members on a gas ship. They stayed in Qatar from July 2-5 and in India from July 14-16, stopping by Singapore to refuel. They docked at the Vung Tau Port on July 28 and were quarantined immediately.
“Patients 527-546” were on the repatriation flight from Equatorial Guinea in central Africa that landed at Noi Bai International Airport Wednesday afternoon.
The newly confirmed infections have lifted the total number of cases in Vietnam to 546, the Health & Life Newspaper, a state-run media reported.
Today, Vietnam recorded its first death from COVID-19 after winning plaudits worldwide for one of the most successful national responses to the pandemic. Patient 428, a 70-year-old man who appears to have contracted the disease in Danang, died on Friday, the official Vietnam News Agency said.

The country of 96 million had gone 100 days without infection before an unexpected cluster of new cases surfaced in the popular central resort city of Danang a week ago.
The health ministry on Friday morning reported 45 new infections in the city, marking the Southeast Asian country’s biggest single-day jump.

Analyzing the new wave of infection, experts are of the opinion that it originated in Da Nang though they have yet to identify who spread it into the community and how.
Many Covid-19 patients under treatment in the city have had their health conditions escalating worse much more quickly than what the nation’s health sector has experienced. Most of those patients are elderly people with chronic diseases, according to the VNExpress, a local media.
