Vietnam’s Ministry of Health announced Tuesday afternoon that a woman has tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing to 32 the total number of cases in the country.
The new case is a Vietnamese, 24, who lives in London. She contacted with the 17th infection case of Vietnam in the UK on Feb 27. VNExpress, local media citing the report from Ministry of Health.
On March 2, she developed symptoms of cough but didn’t have a fever and was admitted to a hospital in London for treatment. After hearing information about 17th case infected with the virus, she came back to the hospital and told doctors about her contact history. The hospital in London required her to be isolated at home but no Covid-19 test was taken
On March 7, she started coughing a lot and had no fever and returned to Vietnam on a charter flight yesterday, March 09. She is under quarantine at the city’s field hospital in Cu Chi District of Ho Chi Minh city. She still has high fever and coughing, but no breathing difficulty.
Vietnam announced nine new cases of the novel coronavirus on Sunday afternoon (March 08, 2020). All nine new cases are foreigners, who were on the same flight from London to Hanoi with the 17th case, who tested positive for the novel coronavirus Friday after traveling to the three European countries last month.
Of the nine, seven are British, one Irish and one Mexican, aged between 58 and 74.
After Vietnam reported its 16th Coronavirus infection on February 13, the nation went 22 days without detecting any new case. All the 16 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
The coronavirus outbreak has thus far spread to 104 countries and territories around the world, with the death toll climbing to 3,806.
